I've played Splinterlands for almost two years now and I've fought hundreds of battles with many being quite epic. The first win I ever had was quite epic in my opinion. There was also the first win I had with just a single unit which was the Diemonshark of the water splinter. Of course, I have the numerous wins I had with silver cards in the Gold league before the modern and wild separation. Gladiator cards and others with bloodlust also surely have given memorable wins with their insane buffed stats.
There are many memorable battles that I would love to share but many of those battles are long gone because I did not save the battle IDs. Some of these battles are the ones that I played with the life team back when I used to play Kralus a lot. I still play the Life Team a lot in many high mana battles but without Kralus this time around. Still, the life team performs well because it has a deck that is quite powerful at least in silver and Gold levels. Let's take a look at this team from a recent battle;
RULESET AND TEAM
This ruleset and mana cap are quite ideal for the type of team I want to form. For this team, there are three cards that are crucial. I show the cards below;
Grandmaster Rathe was the first legendary summoner that was airdropped during the Chaos Legion sale. I remember combining his buff in many ways in order to find the most effective combinations. One way I used to use him was with the Shieldbearer before untamed was taken out of modern. Another way I liked and still like to use this summoner is with Uriel. Of course, Uriel does not attack immediately so he has to preserve himself with the tank heal but he also needs some more support. This is where Adelade Brightwing comes in with the repair and resurrect abilities that maximize Uriel's void armor.
Now that we have these guys, let's bring out the rest of the team;
I have grown to really like Time Meddler. I like the dodge ability with the armor. He is a unit that will be good at the back but I like to have him in second place as a defense against snipe. He can also be a decent tank if it happens that Uriel is killed.
Back when Untamed was in modern I used to switch between Djinn Renova and Bila the Radient but now that I mostly play in modern, I use Djinn Renova a lot. An extra health and 3x magic power can really make a difference.
Uriel already has the tank heal but in most cases this is hardly enough to keep him alive. On that regard, another healer is needed and Venari Crystalsmith does the job quite well.
The War Pegasus is a unit that I think is just perfect. I have the unit at just level 2 and it performs really well. I like its shatter ability and speed that lets it attack quickly and destroy enemy armor. It's a good way to ensure that Uriel does not hit an armor when he does his 9x recharged attack. War Pegasus also has Flying which makes him a good defense against sneak.
THE LINEUP AND BATTLE
As you can see, the enemy has a unit with Taunt at the back so everyone exceot Uriel is forced to attack it. This means that when Uriel is ready, he would be hindered by Inevitable's armor and sturdy shield.
You can also notice that the enemy has two resurrect units and one Triage meant to support the Taunt that also has 6X Void Armor. Also, there is a repair for all that armor. At first sight, it may look like I would definitely lose this battle but looks can be deceiving.
The enemy greatly reduced his attack options with that 15 mana taunt unit at the back. Because of this, my support will be able to keep Uriel alive. The support on the other side is also really good but it would just delay the win and not stop it.
It took my units 7 rounds to finally take down the Taunt after he had been healed multiple times, had his armor repaired and resurrected twice. Now, I have reduced the enemy's attack option even more and it's clear that he would lose.
Even after the Taunt unit was taken out, the enemy had a little support for his sturdy tank but then once I got through him, it became a lot easier.
It took 16 rounds but I was able to defeat the other side and Uriel still had his full health. Even after all the debuffs on my team and the support on the other team, I was still able to defeat my opponent.
Battle Link
This is just one battle out of the many that I still think about till today. This one is recent but it is a demonstration of how I like to setup the Life team in certain conditions. Of course, this type of team is not foolproof but it gets the job done more often than not.
