Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! The Bitcoin halving event has drawn to a close and -- no surprise -- I did not win any of the prizes. The set rarity draws, mentioned in my last article, were added in the latest update.
Aside from some bug fixes and various improvements, probably the other main item of note from this last patch was the removal of starter cards from Wild format. This may be a change to try to hurt bot accounts, or it may be to try to more forcefully direct any new people to play in Modern, where they are still legal. Granted, the massive reward penalties for playing starter cards is likely to prevent most manual players from using them for long either way.
From the last Town Hall, the main items of note were that the Grain/Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) liquidity pool for land; land pre-fix titles that give bonuses to rewards; and chests in the reward shop that give random prizes, like the old quest reward chests, should be coming in the next month. There has not a roadmap released for 2024, and there doesn't seem like they plan to release one. Granted, the old ones tended to always be far too ambitious, and they almost never completed targets on time.
Brawls
Guild Brawl #212 playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in third place, which is not too bad. I did well in my handful of matches.

I opened up one Gladiator pack:
A nice gold foil rare card, as well as a second rare from the pack. This is a second gold foil copy of this card, so I can level it up.The Rest
I hit Champion III on both accounts in Wild before the end-of-season, and Silver in Modern - though, I didn't note which tier. The season rewards of Glint, and the Glint shop prices resetting, are a bit less exciting then the prior chest system. I did buy a few sets of 10 card draws, as I still need plenty of reward cards. I didn't go with the set rarity chests, due to the higher cost.
The most expensive Master draws were a bit if a dud, with predominantly junk common cards. The 10 Elite draws had some better results, with 2 gold foil common cards and a couple of rare cards. The 10 Veteran draws had a decent assortment of rare rewards, and one epic card.Nothing too exciting all in all. I'm a little closer to getting some of the reward cards at max level, though I still need a lot of copies for some of them. I may give the random chests a spin next time, and see how those go.
I am getting a decent amount of Splintershards (SPS) from playing ranked, though it is not something that I really pay that much attention to. I will say I am looking forward to the Grain/DEC liquidity pool, as I have a surplus of Grain. But, I kind of expect most people do and that it will all get dumped on the market quickly. I should also qualify for some of the low tier land titles, since I own the requisite number of plots.
A quiet end-of-season all in all, and hopefully there will be some other things done in May. Though, with the team size, that may just be wishful thinking. Thank you for reading, and I'll be back in about a week with another update!
Oh! I actually didn't know they were going to add the old Loot Chests back into the Reward shop.
I used my glint up on all Veteran draws last time, and I think I did about averagely (which is totally fine) but now that I've got the option to get specific rarity cards I've got a bit of analysis paralysis.
