Is Buy & Rent Profitable Pat 2

in Splinterlands3 years ago (edited)

Hi Splinterlands Lovers

In my previous post, I made some analysis about buying Choas Legion Legendary Cards and renting them without playing any matches. The dataset I used in my previous post was the last hours of the season when rental prices were the highest. That's why I wanted to deepen my analysis in the middle of the season, that is, on the days when rental prices are relatively average. In this post, I will analyze the situation by comparing the purchase prices, rental income and airdrop rewards of all legendary cards.

My Goal is;

  • See the total sell prices of all legendary cards ( regular & gold )
  • See the total rent prices of all legendary cards ( regular & gold )
  • Is it worth buying a card to rent?
  • How long does it take for a legendary card to pay for itself?
  • Which card is more profitable?

Since this analysis takes a long time, I took screenshots to prevent prices from changing. Then I listed all the cards separately according to their editions. I did not want to prolong this article by sharing all the screenshots here, I think you will not see very different sales prices when you look at the card prices these days.

So let's get started...

Market price of SPS is 0,13 USD and you should have 11.730 CP for 1 SPS (Daily)

The formula to calculate daily airdrop SPS for regular legendary cards is CP / 11730 x 0,13 (USD). The values specified as days in the table indicate how many days your investment will pay for itself.
( Day=buying price / total daily income ).

1- Alpha Legendary Cards:

As you can see, alpha cards are very expensive and their payback period is over 10 years. Some gold cards are not for sale and the prices of the cards on sale are ridiculously expensive.

2- Beta Legendary Cards

Although we see more reasonable prices compared to alpha cards, beta cards also have high investment costs and long payback periods. Again, some gold cards are exaggeratedly priced.

3- Promo Legendary Cards:

We encounter a similar picture to Beta cards in promo cards. Some gold cards are very expensive, some cards are not for sale. I would like to draw attention to the fact that the rental income of some cards is very attractive, such as $ 66 per day. Of course, this rental price is the listed prices. Therefore, I do not know if anyone rents a card at this price.

4- Reward Legendary Cards:

Reward Cards stands out as the most reasonable card set when its investment cost and total returns are compared. HARKLAW and DJINN BILJKA cards pay for themselves in about a year. I would like to repeat that this analysis is based on reasonable prices with stable markets. Considering that the rental prices have increased approximately 10 times at the end of the season, this period can be considered to be shorter.

5- Untamed Legendary Cards:

When we look at Untamed cards, we do not see an investment that provides a return under 1000 days.

6- Dice Legendary Cards:

Dice cards are also among the card sets with a payback period of more than 1000 days.

7- Chaos Legion Legendary Cards:

Chaos Legion cards, like Reward cards, seem to be a set of cards that we can get the investment price in a relatively short time. There are a few things to mention here. Sales of Chaos Legion cards continue. Selling and renting prices will likely lower their prices even further.

If we summarize the issues we have talked about so far, when we invest in a legendary card and rent it, our time to get back the money we invested is at least 334 days. But I don't think that's entirely true. Because the rental price increases approximately 10 times at the end of the season. In addition, this table changes a lot when the SPS price increases.

Let's make a table for Reward Cards by making an assumption:

  • SPS price is 0.25 instead of 0.13 (which doesn't seem too exaggerated to me).
  • Double the rental income (I assume that we rented our card for 14 days at a reasonable price and on the last day of the season for 10 times the reasonable price)

These assumptions show us that the most profitable card, HARKLAW, starts to give us a net profit after 102 days. Of course, investing based on a positive scenario may not always give the result we want.

There are also a few other issues that need to be considered. I did this analysis only for legendary cards. I think I can find a more profitable card if the same analysis is done for other cards. Because I started to think that cheap cards pay for themselves in a shorter time.

As a result, further analysis seems like a necessary step to achieve better results.

What do you think?

Wow! This is some next-level data-mining! Great analysis and interesting takeaways.

Thank you. I like to do such things 😌

Nice work. Will follow and look forward to future updates on Exotic, Rare, Common cards. Will share on Splinterlands Digest Twitter.

Thank you for encouraging me to continue this type of analysis.
