Prelude
Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's challenge topic is to do a sharing on a new feature on Splinterlands that had just been launched recently and also with this new launch, an old feature of the game has been totally replaced. This particular feature is the recently launched Training Mode, which replaced the longstanding practice mode since I started playing Splinterlands.
Training Mode
Navigating to Training Mode
To start accessing Training Mode, you can find it right below your user id be it you are playing Splinterlands on your mobile or pc. Similar to where you can locate the Custom Challenge, by clicking on the word Training in the screenshot, you will be able to access Training Mode.
To start a new training mode, click on the word "Training" and you will see this training grounds interface appearing:
You might be thinking, isn't this just yet another same old practice mode? It is not and comes with loads of customization.
Setting Your Training Session Up
Here’s a breakdown of what you can input and customized when you get into the challenge interface.
Difficulty Levels:
Instead of a one size fit all kind of opponent, you now have the option to face automated opponents at different difficulty levels. There are three levels available, Easy, Medium, and Hard. The flexibility of difficulty allow us to slowly increase the difficulty as we put up new strategies or experiment new cards.
Card Pool:
The uniqueness of this new training mode is that we can define the card pool that we will be using during training.
This is fantastic as you will be able to tailor your training environment to match the format you are playing in ranked battles. The available sets are: All Cards, Modern, Ghost Cards, or Ghost Modern.
Personally, Ghost cards is an awesome set to train on so that we are familiar with the cards before we attempt to get a copy or make it a card that we will rent for long term.
Summoner Level Cap:
This is another great thing that actually benefit us in terms of the rough estimated kind of cards we will meet day to day or even for tournaments. Personally, this feature is really good for training for tournament and getting ready to simulate what we can expect from opponent from the various league caps applied on tournaments.
Getting Ready and Getting Better
The new training mode serve as a risk free battleground for us to get ready and get better.
Instead of wasting energy and causing our ranking to drop, we now have a platform to test our hearts out without the risk of having ranking free fall or burning energy/losing rewards by testing out in ranked battles.
New lineups which you are uncertain whether they will work or not? Use training mode.
Unfamiliar ruleset and want to know if favourite lineup still viable with the ruleset? Use training mode.
Want to test out whether a card works for you or to incorporate a new combo? Use training mode.
Additional Tips on Using Training Mode
To be a master, we do not just keep grinding and playing. Players invest time to understand the cards they are playing, running multiple combination to find the most optimal cards to bring to the battlefield. In the past we do not have such things, but today with training mode, we are presented with an opportunity for studying the game more in depth.
For new players:
This is your dojo, try out combinations, understand the cards and what synergises with them. Ramp up the difficulty and see if whatever you've learn can test against different levels of opponent without burning energy or rewards.
Card Testing Zone:
Want to buy a new card but not sure of how they perform or which level of card to purchase up till, here is the place where you will be able test it all out. Instead of sinking out your money or assets to buying a possible unknown, why not test out, get to know the card you wish to purchase inside out then finally make that purchase than just buying and subsequently regretting that purchase.
Progressive Training:
To learn your lineup threshold, check what your deck is capable of when fighting against cards of higher levels and see if further upgrades are needed on your cards. While you might be a super strong silver league player, your deck might become irrelevant when facing higher level cards in a higher league. So use training mode to measure if its time an upgrade is needed for your lineup.
And whatever that is being used, played or experimented in training mode, we need to analyze the outcome and understand the good, bad and ugly of each test. The customization and risk free environment allow players to work on their strategies, know their deck capabilities and also help them learn of what to expect on the battlefield. Even my math teacher always tell me, if you do not practice (train), you will always be a novice and do not know how to effectively solve math problems. Same goes for Splinterlands, since a new dojo in the form of training mode is being made available, head in and become better like how Dragonball characters enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to train and get ready for fighting Cell.
Wrap Up
I am really thankful that such a feature is being release with so much customization available for us to get our hands dirty, train at various difficulties, learn more about cards without paying the price of energy loss or even losing out on rewards earning. This is really essential for us in our battle journey. Do not miss out on such a good feature, train hard. As the saying goes, the sweat that drips during training reduces the possible blood that you lose during an actual fight.
