Prelude
Good day to all, hope that you are doing well and battling often in Splinterlands. It is time again for another battle sharing. Before I go into the segment of battle sharing, I would like to share a piece of achievement that I've obtained while I played Splinterlands a few hours ago:
For the first time since playing for such a long time, I finally managed to break into the Diamond 3 league on modern. And here is my stats showing that I've made a new record in terms of rating going into Diamond 3.
After celebrating this achievement, I would like to start today's battle sharing proper with a match that involves Marisol Contuma. This is another Gladius card from Life Splinter that I use often if I am not using Captain Katie.
Let us take a look at Marisol Contuma's stats and abilities:
A card that is filled with stats, in all aspects. Attack, speed, armour and health all good and the best of all, this card can hide behind the tank and punish opponent front line cards with ease. Not forgetting the ever growing Blood Lust grow this card from strength to strength and in no time, it will be a problematic card to face as you allow it to remain on the field.

Selection Analysis
A super restrictive selection with only life splinter available. Accompanied by Melee Mayhem and Counterspell, this means I can only consider using melee cards more than using my usual favoured magic lineup with Iziar and her buddies to do up a backline of cyclic healing. So let's see what I've lined up.
In my selection, since it is melee mayhem, essentially every melee card can smack from any position. But to me, placement is still important. I put up Drybone Barbarian at position 1 as this card is fantastic as it will gather rage and will be tough to hit it. Position 2, I deployed Marisol Contuma as I had the Gladius summoner chosen. Goal for it is to stand behind Drybone Barbarian and start bullying from position 2. Following Marisol, it is Mana Warden which enable Shield Ward onto Marisol and allow shield ability to be added onto Marisol to further enhance its survivability. The next 3 cards in the lineups are all planned as attackers to strike out cards on my opponent's lineup with Imperial Knight having an additional role to anchor the backline against any attacks from the back. A well balanced lineup was put up from me with abilities, sustainability and also some form of sneak and opportunity to take out difficult cards in the lineup or at the back line.
Now onto what my opponent fielded Imperial Knight at position with the heal to sustain the front. In position 2, opponent used Jarred Scar which is also a mean hitter with true strike, piercing and blood lust. Not an easy card to handle but we will see accordingly later. The next card is a very scary Gladius card Tatiana Blayde. This crazy range gladius can even strike at first position and comes with very fast speed which will grow with every successful kill. Similar to me, opponent also had 3 card at the end with intent to strike from back and also to anchor the backline to keep it intact.
A battle of wits with Life Splinter and a slightly similar yet different in strategy. So let's battle!
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - While I did wanted to let front tank do more damage before falling, the barrage was too heavy for it as it fell alongside Stitch Leech which made it a tough start for me. Opponent has a full lineup while I am down to 4 cards. Can I overturn the outcome?
Round 2 - Round opened with Marisol taking out Imperial Knight then followed by all kinds of exchange. My lineup manage to shave off almost everything to allow Marisol with an easy kill. Marisol endured some damage and dodged a few. However, Imperial Knight was poisoned by Uraeus. Let's hope it can sustain through.
Round 3 - Another round of strong exchanges with Jarred Scar being scarred right on the first strike and feeding Marisol into a very strong card that is heavily boosted. It continue to endure some damage and dodging. Miraculously Imperial Knight can sustain on. And once again, the lineup manage to park Tatiana Blayde within reach for Marisol whom will strike first next round due to the massive speed stats.
Round 4 - We cleared Tatiana right at the start of the round, then continue working on opening the remaining card. Marisol just grew out of proportion with 8 attack and 8 speed.
Round 5-7, a repeated rinse and dry sequence where armour is cleared by other cards in my lineup while Marisol just keep smashing everything in sight. A victory was obtained at the end of round 7 after Dumacke Orc fell.
Battle Summary
Marisol when blown out of control is no easy opponent to face. The repeated rinse and dry sequence after we cleared the tough cards in the lineup just allowed Marisol to become the big bully, clearing card after card but not getting hit due to protection from armour or shield or the attacks cannot even reach it. A really strong card which can overturn the match when it grows. It is really so so good.
Wrap Up
Love how Marisol go crazy and blow out of proportion and just need to kill the card presented to it each turn and then go ahead to clear whatever remaining with its inflated stats. Hope you like my battle sharing.
