Prelude
Good day to all, hope that you are doing well and battling often in Splinterlands. It is time again for another battle sharing on a match encounter that happened over the span of this week. It was quite a fun match and that is why I wanted to share how this match went.
The match involves my opponent using Kha'zi Conjurer, a 2 mana fire range attacker that can deal a whooping 4 damage upon hit. While this card strikes painfully hard, as long as we are able to sustain long enough, this card's shortfall will start showing up and a path of self destruction begins.
A quick view of that ability that caused my opponent to self destruct - Incendiary. When I am able to sustain long enough, the incendiary ability brought to the battle field by my opponent, becomes a wild fire that spreads in my opponent's backward and caused trouble for himself. Exactly how everything went? Let's get right into it.

Selection Analysis
We do have 3 splinters available for selection - Fire, Life and Dragon. And on the ruleset front is fire and regret which typically is bad for range attackers. I picked Life while my opponent picked Dragon. Mana wise is not a luxurious amount so need to be mindful on how to select to sufficiently cover the lineup.
In my selection, since it is fire and regret, I totally avoided planting any range card in my lineup so as not to get the returned attack from it. Lineup consist of melee, magic and also cards without attack which I will do some weapons training to have them get some attack as well. First in the lineup is Halfling Refugee, the cheapest tank that I have in my collection which at non exhausted state can do some good value via striking for 3 damage, otherwise 1 mana for 6 health meat shield is a very good value. To up it's value, I planted Mana Warden behind Halfling Refugee to give shield to it. Mana Warden is quite a good small mana card that really boost tanks and I like using it. Next in the lineup is Helmet Kharafax. This card is a hidden gem. It has scavenge to keep it alive with each fallen card, it also has void to reduce magic damage and upon gaining some form of attack, it can also get boosted stats from Blood Lust for every card it kills and best of all, it is 2 mana only. The next card is the card that gives Helmet Kharafax and the next card Scavo Hireling magic attack through its weapon training, Moxian Rebel. And Scavo Hireling which is next give repair and build back broken armour for sustainability. And to wrap up the lineup, I planted a Xenith Monk with heal to hold up the backline.
Now onto what my opponent with Lily Shieldpaw as summoner, fielded a maxed out Djinn Chwala at position which came with enrage, true strike and thorns which will not be easy to handle especially when it is enraged. In position 2, opponent also used a Halfling Refugee just that I am not sure why at position 2, my guess would be it will be a filler after first tank to give more protection to backline. After Halfing Refugee comes the Kha'zi Conjurer that will hit really hard with that 4 attack but I also recognize possible return fire onto it, but 4 damage on strike is no small damage. Oshuur Constantia fills the last position which has resurrect and heal. Not forgetting that Lily Shieldpaw will provide triage to the lineup. I guess that is why opponent dare to take the risk since he will be able to get sufficient backline healing to keep the cards alive.
A battle of wits with me using Life Splinter to up against a very strong opponent. Will the overwhelming take me out or I can hold my lines sufficiently and slowly wear out my opponent? Let's get onto the match proper to check it out.
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - A round of barrage landing big on my Halfling Refugee. It is a miracle for it to survive through this round and Scavo Hireling still able to give it a repair on its armour. However my opponent side, everything looks relatively unscathed.
Round 2 - Incendiary act up and caused opponent Halfling Refugee to get burning as well. Now there are 2 cards on fire. Lily Shieldpaw healed up Kha'zi Conjurer while more barrage went upon Halfling Refugee and it fell and now Mana Warden also being battered but managed to survive this round.
Round 3 - The round started with burning damage onto Halfling Refugee and Kha'zi Conjurer, killing Kha'zi in the midst but Shuura revived it. Djinn Chwala got into burning as well. Battle continues with more punishment onto Mana Warden and taking it out.
Round 4 - The round started with burning upon opponent lineup cards and Kha'zi fully fall. Now it is up to Helment Kharafax to sustain and hang in there while the burning on my opponent side continue to spread onto every card and now all we need to do is to hang on as long as we can.
Round 5-8, Every round started with burning and we see one by one the cards fall on my opponent's side. Helmet Kharafax just slowly apply pressure slowly while hold up well against the big damage coming its way. And we finally see the last card on opponent being burned to death. A victory secured!
Battle Summary
While opponent started out strongly with all kind of big damage and Lily Shieldpaw to cover the flaw brought about by Kha'zi Conjurer, time proved that if we hold on long enough, the benefits that Kha'zi Conjurer early on get masked off and ended up becoming a problem too hot to handle.
Wrap Up
This battle shows us that while cards that have good stats if unable to gain advantage sufficiently early on and push through, the after effects from using such cards will come back and haunt us. So whenever you want to put up these cards for use, do consider if you are able to end things quickly.
