Weekly Challenge! MYCELIC MORPHOID

in Splinterlands3 years ago

The earth summoners and monsters have been the new meta! Have been seeing a lot of appearances of them recently. I use Obsidian a lot especially when climbing from Silver. This time though! I am combining my favorite splinter with earth monster, you know what I mean. Dragon summoner is one of my favorite splinters not only because of the decent dragon monsters, but also because of the immense synergies it brings with other splinters.

I have maxed out Kretch because of the great value of it, don't undervalue it because of the lack of abilities, check him out!

Ok back to this week's protagonist: Mycelic Morphoid

Here are the stat of Mycelic Morphoid:

I personally like it to be level 3 or above because of the thorns ability. I purchased a gold version of it and it's of a great deal, one bcx is level 3 already. If combined with mycelic queen, you're potentially doing at least 4 damage from thorns (2 from armor, 2 from its health) plus 1 damage from the card itself. Imagine what would that be if you have the ability amplify, so much you can do with just a 1 mana card.

Anyway! Here is the battle link for my battle using the Dragon team:

Let me share my reason for the team now.

The game has the following rulesets:

Armored Up
Up Close & Personal
Earth, Light and Dragon splinters can be chosen.
Mana limit: 26

Up Close & Personal is the perfect ruleset for thorns ability because all monsters will basically be melee and must take damage from thorns. Combined with armored up! Which means the monsters with thorns are going to survive longer and do more damage.

**I decided to go with the following team -

Summoner: Kretch

Djinn Chwala: Great tank with decent damage output, especially when enraged. It's a great monster under this Up Close and Personal ruleset because of his thorn ability, great armor, great damage. He's almost my 100% go-to when I pick Dragon splinter. I put him first because his armor and health will allow him to survive, while doing decent damage.

Twilight Basilisk: Awesome utility for just 4 mana. Once it's got the stun ability, it creates so much more possibility in your team including utilizing the knockout ability, even without the knockout ability, the stun itself is just awesome. I placed him second because of his reach ability, usually does well when combined with Djinn Chwala.

Mycelic Morphoid: 1 mana, thorn ability! Throughout the battle, I think it did over 5 damage. I placed him in the third position because it'll help to protect the monsters in the backline, while letting the first two monsters do sustainable damage.

Uraeus: 3 mana with sneak and poison abilities, how can you not like it? It usually does more damage than you'd expected because poison is just a pain. I placed him fourth because I want him to be a sneak and be well-protected as a constant damage output.

Fiend: 0 mana for protection here! With the armor it can take at least two hits, unless there's a piercing ability.

Pelacor Mercenary: I always like to throw him in the backline if mana allows. His tank heal is so difficult to get through especially when placed in the last position, because not every monster has the sneak ability. He also has the flying ability which is good for earthquake ruleset, and he dodges! If you haven't leveled him up, please do so before he gets expensive. You can tell in the battle, even when poisoned and constantly attacked by the enemy Uraeus, he was able to survive until the end.

My team combination worked well I'd say! What do you think?

Hope you liked the battle. Let me know your thoughts on my team selection in the comments below.
