It is understandable that having high level summoners and monsters would help you win every matches. That is absolutely true… But… not all the time it does work. To most of us players, we don’t have enough resources to provide those high powered or level cards to use on every match. But what if… what if? We manage to know what our opponents may be playing for the match.
“Know your enemy as if knowing thyself” –Sun Tzu from the book “Art of War”
Before the start of the match, always try to know the following:
#1.Know what splinters does your opponent that he/she’s using- with this, you can anticipate what splinter your opponent may be using. It gives you a basic idea what may be the next splinter your opponent may be using for this battle.
#2.Combat Rules- combat rules is random on every match. The higher your rank is, the more combat rules it adds as well. Try to determine which combat rules would be applied for the match ups. We can all take advantage of such combat rules depending on what splinter and cards that we would be using which compliments by the combat rules( I would also discuss such good combos on certain combat rules on my next post).
#3.Mana Cap- depending on the mana cap per matches, try to anticipate(base from #1) what would be the possible cards your opponent would be using, together with the ideal splinter as well.
#4.Splinters- Try to know which splinters are available to use for this match. By knowing which specific splinters that are available to use, you can also check #1 and all the numbers to anticipate what could be your opponent’s splinter and cards for this match.
Let’s make an example from one of my matches that I can discuss about:
If you notice the start of the match, our opponent has played dragon, earth and fire splinters. For me, I have the assumption that my opponent doesn’t have much in life splinter base from his previous matches. Since the combat rules are earthquake and reverse speed, it is a good bet to choose a flying unit or high hp cards. I have a huge hunch that my opponent would be using a shield bearer as prime tank to absorb all damage and backing it up with a armorsmith and divine healer. I would’ve prefer to use the shield, armor, heal combo but since I was using lorna and earthquake is under the combat rule, I prefer to use a different strategy. I used Furious chicken and Ooze as my tank since they can take 2 hits of damage and can survive a round from the earthquake effect, thanks to my Lorna. I used the luminous eagle and thunderbird to negate the earthquake effect and can deal 3damage every round. I also used divine healer as the next tank after the chicken and ooze.

The match went good in our favors since we consider the 4 aspect on the start of the line up. By having this kind in mind every round, you would have a better chance of winning even with the limited cards that you have. I will try to post some other good matches that we can discuss that you can apply on your game as well. Please comment below and share your best practice and experience on how to anticipate your opponent.

One thing that might help in long term is to use the #SPT tag on Splinterlands related posts.
I rarely use it, because I rarely blog about Splintetlands, but I earned 252.991392 SPT so far, which currently worth $1.23 USD.
