Results of the latest Chaotic Kobold Mining Expedition Tournament
I finished the Tournament in the top 3 which means that i got the max payout of a 125 SPS which is around $31 at time of writing. Thats a pretty nice return for 1 hour worth of submitting teams. Ill be looking at each one of the battles to see where i did good and where i made mistakes so you can learn from them as well for the next Chaotic Kobold Mining Expedition Tournament
Round 1
First Battle
In the first battle, i went life while my opponent went for Fire. Both of these splinters are great for 99 mana matches as they both have high mana monsters. I went with Life cause of PELACOR ARBALEST which has double strike, coupled with blast is a really good combination. Something that i did not take into consideration was the amount of magic damage available for the Fire splinter. Within the first few hits, i lost my tanks to magic damage and my backline crumpled soon after. Using Fire and magic is such a strong combiniation espeically with Blast and ill sure use that more often since Life does not have any taunt so backline monsters are very easy to kill
Second Battle
A Mirror Match up this time. Main differences are GRUND and MAGI OF CHAOS. From the start, there wasnt really much of a chance for me since MAGI OF CHAOS is a much better card due to the 1 extra magic damage compared to VENARI SPELLSMITH. Ill be picking up a MAGI OF CHAOS for the next Tournament since she will help for the 99 Mana matches. As for GRUND, was countered very nicely by MYCELIC INFANTRY. I havent seen much success with GRUND so ill continue to avoid it for now since its 10 Mana
Third Battle
Finally my wins started to roll in. i ended Round one on a 9 win streak. The first of which is a fire vs water match up. In this match up, i knew DISINTEGRATOR was going to be a must since it was a melee battle only and with KELYA FRENDUL giving extra speed and armor, it makes it much harder for the fire team to get through. One thing i would have changed is to move DISINTEGRATOR further back one spot to protect it a bit more.
Fourth Battle
Another mirror match up on our hands and this time with poison. For poison, there are only 2 abilities in this tournament that remove, immunity and cleanse. Since water does not have immunity, both of us went Cleanse. This Battle could have gone either way since we were playing the same minions and with rage, all it takes is one big hit to swing the advantage
Fifth Battle
Opponent Fled meaning the person didnt even play a team against me. So thats a free win
Sixth Battle
As mentioned in my Article, Life is one of the strongest splinters for Little league and we see the power here. Only difference between me and my opponent was STITCH LEECH which took out alot of their monsters throughout the battle. Something for me to consider is getting the magic monsters as well Life
Seventh Battle
Not too sure what my opponent was thinking here since they didnt pick a single magic monsters. This was straight forward and would have been closer if they had opted for Magic
Eigth Battle
A very close game with both teams running magic which ignores magic. I honestly think i would have lost if the opponent had positioned his minions better. MAGI NECROSI should have been in the back and not in the second position. Once it died, it was pretty much game over already
Ninth Battle
Forgotten one smashed through the tank and the opponent didnt have enough damage to keep up. They played WAVE BROOD which i feel isnt good at level 1 since it only does 1 damage and no shield etc to help with survival. If they had added MERDAALI GUARDIAN to heal it, they would have had a chance. but overall, fire again coming in clutch with the magic damage
Tenth Battle
Unfortunately adding MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN at the second was a poor decision since it didnt benefit from the heal which cause their team to not keep up on damage. Even if they had put MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN in position one, they would not have been able to keep up.
Eleventh Battle
This time, my opponent went HUNTER JARX which is a decent choice. Unfortunately, due to the difference in speed and flying, he missed twice against my REGAL PERYTON which was the difference. AS mentioned in the previous article, REGAL PERYTON is the MVP for novice league and should be considered whenever possible.
Overall Stats for Round 1
Splinter | Wins | Loses | WR% |
---|---|---|---|
Fire | 2 | 0 | 100% |
Water | 2 | 0 | 100% |
Earth | 3 | 1 | 75% |
Life | 1 | 1 | 50% |
Death | 0 | 0 | 0% |
Stay Tunned for Part 2 which looks at my battles in Round 2 which should be more challenging since its against the top players so they are unlikely to make silly mistakes or fled
