Good day everyone splinterlands community, today I will share another interesting battle in a modern format. This blog highlights the Amplify synergy with Pelacor Conjurer in a low-mana-cap battle. I used my scholar account for this match, and the rule sets included Briar Patch, Up to Eleven, and Holy Protection, with a 14-mana cap.
Pelacor Conjurer is an exceptional choice for low-mana-cap battles, especially under the given rule sets of Briar Patch, Up to Eleven, and Holy Protection. With abilities like Flying, Magic Reflect, Divine Shield, and Phase, this Chaos Legion card becomes a versatile and durable tank. Its Flying ability provides a higher chance to evade melee and ranged attacks, while Magic Reflect allows it to counter magic attackers effectively, especially when paired with Amplify, increasing the reflected damage. Divine Shield ensures it can absorb an initial hit without taking damage, and Phase further boosts its survivability by dodging magic attacks based on its impressive 5-speed. With 8 health, Pelacor Conjurer becomes a reliable tank that maximizes defensive capabilities while punishing opponents who rely on magic or high-damage units.

Given the rule sets Briar Patch and Up to Eleven, I anticipated that my opponent might prioritize using Magic or Ranged attacks. To counter this, I selected Quix the Devious as my summoner to reduce the opponent's Ranged Damage and Speed. My lineup was designed for synergy and counterplay, featuring Pelacor Conjurer as the primary tank for its exceptional defensive abilities, Soul Fiend as an additional tank and support, Naga Assassin to enhance speed advantage, Vruz to trigger the Martyr ability and amplify my team's performance, and Doctor Blight as the main source of Magic damage and poison. This combination aimed to overwhelm the opponent with ability counters like Magic Reflect and sustained poison damage from Doctor Blight.
The opponent, on the other hand, utilized Prunda Undervesch as their summoner, with a lineup featuring Halfling Refugee as the tank, followed by Soul Fiend, Pelacor Conjurer, Aves Sturgis, Albaho Forester, and Elanor Bravefoot. Their strategy appeared to focus heavily on Magic damage, especially with Aves Sturgis in play, which grants additional Magic damage to non-attacking units like Pelacor Conjurer and Albaho Forester. This setup made their lineup particularly powerful in terms of Magic output, posing a significant challenge to my defensive strategy.
As the battle unfolded, both Vruz and Pelacor Conjurer performed exceptionally as planned. Pelacor Conjurer successfully evaded most of the opponent's Magic attacks, reflecting damage when hit, while Vruz served as a strategic bait to trigger the Martyr ability, boosting the performance of Naga Assassin and Doctor Blight. This synergy, combined with the Briar Patch rule set, allowed my team to execute the strategy effectively. My dominance in speed was evident, as Pelacor Conjurer's high evasion rate neutralized a significant portion of the opponent's attacks. Although the opponent utilized Aves Sturgis's Weapons Training ability effectively, it wasn't enough to turn the tide, as most of their attacks missed. If Vruz hadn’t eliminated the opponent’s Soul Fiend early on, the additional speed buff from Soul Fiend could have shifted the battle's momentum.
Chaos Legion cards will be rotating out of the Modern format this year, so I encourage everyone to focus on collecting enough Rebellion and Riftwatchers cards. The likely reason for phasing out Chaos Legion is to maintain Modern as a format that highlights newer card sets. As new sets are introduced, older ones naturally cycle out to keep the experience fresh and competitive. Personally, I plan to prioritize gathering sufficient copies of Rebellion cards and working to max them out, ensuring they remain a key part of my strategy for future battles.
A Big Thanks! for supporting me, being here, and coming this far. I'm hoping this strategy can assist you with some of your battles.
