Good day everyone Splinterlands community! Recently, the Splinterlands team has been running a series of challenge blogs to help newcomers as they enter the world of Splinterlands. But this time since the challenge is about Glint Shop newbie buying strategies, so I'd like to share my approach to spending Glint's at what I typically buy. It's not quite a newbie style but It is somehow my strategy on how I will spend my Glints. This is good for the newbies to know about Glints and those who already know about Glints will also consider trying to utilize my spending strategy for Glints

Introduction to Glints

Following the update on April 2, 2024, players can now earn Glints, a non-transferable in-game currency, which can be spent in the Reward Shop on various items. Players earn Glints by participating in Modern or Wild Ranked Battles and burning Soulbound Reward Cards. Glints accumulate throughout each season and are distributed as additional rewards at the end of each season. For more detailed information on Glints, you can check out this FAQ.

You’ll find the Glint Shop in-game in Figure #1, where a variety of exciting rewards are available, such as Rebellion cards and Titles (previously it featured Soulbound cards).

Earning Glints

In the Modern format, you can earn Glints at a higher rate than in the Wild format, with Modern offering more than a 50% increase in Glint earnings. It's also important to have staked Splintershards (SPS) to boost your earnings—without it, you'll only receive rewards based on your rank which is the rating and 0 for both SPS and Glints earn. If you don’t have staked SPS, you can rent it through in-game or other platforms like Peakmonster or Xbot, which I use and find easy to navigate and use. It’s also important to have a sufficient collection of owned, rented, or delegated cards to win more matches, as this greatly affects your ranked play SPS earn and boosts your Glint earnings.

The formula for calculating Reward Shares for Glints and SPS is as follows:

Reward Shares = ([Rating³ X (1-% Starter Cards)] X Bonuses) / (10⁷)

The champion rating is capped at 5,000.

Where,

  • Rating: A player's current in-game rating.
  • % Starter Cards: The percentage of starter cards used, which reduces rewards.
    • If no starter cards are used, the boost formula is: Your Base = Rating³/1,000,000,000
  • Bonuses: Includes factors like win streaks, card types, guild lodge levels, and the staked SPS multiplier.

Shopping Strategy of where to use Glints

My goal in Splinterlands is to accumulate as much ENERGY as possible to enhance my grinding in the Modern format and increase my earnings SPS Staked. To achieve this goal, I have tried to purchase certain types of chests that offer a higher probability of rewards, including ENERGY, rare cards, and other useful resources. The two chests I focus on are Ultimate Chests and Major Chests from loot chest, both of which play a key role in my overall progression within the game and future use battle cards hopefully will get max all cards, You'll see Loot Chests and how much per chest in Figure #2. I didn't include Minor chests since Minor has almost nothing of getting Energy.

(Figure #3)

ULTIMATE CHEST

  • In Figure #3, it contains the most Rebellion reward cards (before it was soulbound reward cards), potions, merits, and ENERGY with a greater chance of getting a jackpot prize. At the end of each season, I make it a priority to buy these first, as they frequently give me more ENERGY. This is my first buy each season ends, I mostly get more Energy on these Chests and sometimes get Legendary cards and some gold foils. This is also good since it has a decent amount of Merits 1,000 - 2,000 on a single chest that I sometimes get. Which is then can be bought some Gladiator pack.

(Figure #4)

MAJOR CHEST

  • While Figure #4 contains more soulbound reward cards, potions, merits, and energy, with a greater chance of receiving higher rarity cards or a jackpot prize. Ultimate Chests are not the only option I rely on. After securing my supply of Ultimate Chests, I turn my attention to Major Chests. These chests, while slightly less generous than Ultimate Chests in terms of ENERGY rewards, still provide a good mix of valuable resources. While the ENERGY may not be as high as the Ultimate Chests, they still provide a chance to acquire higher rarity cards, which can be useful for improving my deck and overall game performance.

It is worth using some potions to increase your chances of getting Gold foil and the amount of cards, merits, and energy.

Lost connection After buying Loot from Chest

Now as a student, I sometimes just go around with my phone playing SPL and I want to open some Loot Chest and suddenly get lost connection, thankfully there is a PURCHASE HISTORY where I can see my open chest, You can see the 3 dot with dash line icon in Figure #5 and there you can see recent opened chests. I just sometimes replay the result as a trail feeling or excitement surprise of what I actually get😅.

RARITY DRAWS

  • Lastly, beyond the chests, If I have some EXTRA GLINTS I will then go to Rarity Draws, you see in Figure #6. These draws allow me to focus on acquiring powerful cards that can enhance my strategies and then improve my deck. My main for this draw is Legendary Draws, as Legendary cards are some of the most powerful and versatile options in the game. Followed by Epic Draws, although not as easily combined as epic, it still packs a punch and provides useful and powerful abilities and stats same as legendary. As I notice the battle experience the Epic is somehow quite powerful and cheap than Legendary😂.

Advice for Beginner spending Glints

Most of the time I can only get 500-800 glints per win, but not all the time I will win causing just only a decent enough to buy the first batch. Notice in the picture found in Figure #2 you can see that I didn't buy again right after I purchased the first batch because it's quite expensive and the End season is just right around the corner and will reset the Glint Shop, also I didn't gather enough or grind for Glints because of limited Energy and sometimes lose the battles. So It's the best choice to just spend your GLINTS other items for those only first batch.

My strategy revolves around maximizing ENERGY to sustain and enhance my grinding in the Modern format. By prioritize Ultimate Chests for their high chance of getting more ENERGY and valuable rewards, followed by Major Chests as a secondary option, which then I can gather the resources I need to progress in the game. Purchasing with Rarity Draws for powerful Legendary and Epic cards further strengthens my deck, giving me a competitive edge in future battles. This goal ensures that I am consistently improving my gameplay while making the most of my resources. Also big thanks to the team of SPL for continuing to improve and adding interesting competitive features to the game.
