The goal of this article is, to teach small/micro budget Splinterland player a multitude of ways to jumpstart their journey in this game. I hope provide those players with alternativ ways to improve there account aside just from playing.
Faucet
The first and most reliant method to generate your first DEC to get your account going is from the Splinterlabs Faucet. So you are wondering how the faucet works? Every 10 mins the website plays a sound (running water). Indicating that you can participate in the faucet drop. Due to the sound, you don't have to stare at the faucet page all day long, just switch to the browser tab once you hear the sound. And fill out the shown Captcha.
If you are fast enough and correctly fill the captcha (time limit I believe is 30secs). You get your share of the current drip in this case 1.364 DEC. The drip is 1% of all the currencies the faucet is holding. As long as the currency maintains the minimum amount of 10.
In this instance, I had to share the drip with 1 other person and was awarded half of the 1.364. So my Splintertools.io account got credited with 0.682 DEC. Once you feel you benefitted enough from the faucet. Click on your username on the top right.
Then click on withdraw funds.
Enter the accumulated DEC during the drips and click the DEC button.
Splinterlabs instantly send your reward into your Splinterlands account.
Support the project
For everyone that wants to support new/struggling players, here is how you can support them by donating to the faucet. Also, go to https://splinterlabs.io/faucet click the donate located here:
Enter any amount you can contribute. Click the according currency button
Wait for your Hive Keychain to pop up and accept the transaction into the faucet.
In case you did it correctly the faucet Statistics will show your donation.
Giveaways
Use this Giveaway link, it directly brings you to a page filtered for Splinterland giveaways. The most recent post is at the top. Click on any of the shown giveaways you are interested in.
Read the article, at least skim through and look if the author requires anything from you. Like vote, reblog, or answer a question to be eligible to enter the giveaway.
- Okay so I have to choose which card I need from those 8, I'm going with the Venari Bonesmith.
- My Splinterlands account and the posting account are identical so I don't have to put it in, but just to be save I'll post my account name, too.
- We don't have to, but voting won't hurt us and we can support the author so I'll vote for the post.
- My reputation is at 48 right now, so I'm eligible. Don't worry new accounts start out with 25 reputation. So it shouldn't be a problem for anyone, unless they spammed or got somehow downvoted.
Fill out the comment and hit reply to take part in the giveaway.
Rinse and repeat for as long as you want with the other available giveaways. But beware of the resource credit requirements at some point you might run out of them if you comment/vote/post a lot. In case you run out there are a couple of ways you can get back into the game.
Youtube/Twitch Streamers
Other sources of giveaways are Youtube and Twitch Streamers, some of them offer regular giveaways during their live streams or by commenting on their videos. This obviously requires more time but less resource investment compared to Hive blogging giveaways. In addition streamers usually, give out better rewards compared to the blogs, you often get epic, gold foils, or packs by joining their giveaways. For me it's easy. I would watch those streamers even without the giveaways. I prefer youtube over twitch, so I can only recommend people I follow on Youtube. Of those Aftersound, Luke-WTP and Bulldog1205 would be the best to follow, if you are looking for giveaways.
Hive Power (HP)
Givegiver.site
Giftgiver.site gets you started with 10+HP for 7 days. That is a good amount to continue to post/vote/comment in case you ran out.
Just fill out your name solve the I'm human captcha.
Click submit and you will receive your delegation.
After 7 days it gets undelegated. Keep that in mind. In case you still need HP by then you have to wait till the 5 day undelegation period is over.
Splinterlands
If you run out of Ressource Credits, while using the Splinterlands website. For example while buying or combining cards you receive an error message that you are out of RC and in turn, Splinterlands delegates you some HP so that you can continue.
I think I got up to 12 delegations (26 HP total) until they stopped giving me more.
Discord
On the official Splinterlands Discord
Try posting there and maybe someone is willing to provide you with some delegation.
you can find a channel called #rc-issues-requests
Blogging
A great way to bolster your war chest is by blogging about your journey into splinterlands. Maybe blog about the rewards you are receiving or about strategies you figure out while navigating through the bronze waters. Bitch about how unbeatable bots are or how easy it is to abuse them. Get inspired by what others are writing about Splinterlands. And find your own voice to contribute to the evergrowing Hive Splinterlands community.
Weekly Battle Challenge
Always keep an eye out for challenges that the Splinterlands Team provides you with. If you do a good job following their guidelines one of the Splinterlands curators will upvote your post with a ton of vote power. You can receive up to 100$ from their upvotes alone. But don't expect those 50/100% votes, a 2-5% upvotes might still bring you 2-5$ twice each week.
Blogging Tokens
There are a lot of different tokens you can earn by posting on the Hive blockchain.
Hive Power (HP)
Talked about it before, the most important token on the chain, because it provides you with the necessary RC.

That's it now you have all your blogging rewards in Splinterlands ready to be utilized.
Trading
WARNING: This strategy requires market knowledge. Attempting this without prior market knowledge might lose you a lot of currency. I don't advise inexperienced players to try this out!!!
If you don't understand the math and/or don't track your purchase/sell prices you risk losing money!!!
Buying
To do this you have to scour the market and try to identify the undervalued assets. Let's say I identified that Crypt Beetle's are currently underpriced. And they rather should be valued more along the lines of 0.045 and not 0.04. Now we have 2 ways to get our Crypt Beetle on a budget
a) We buy the one's list on the market. The best way to get cards list on the market is MonsterMarket.io they provide you with a Rakeback of 60% from the market fees.
So we basically get those 2 cards for 0.04 * (1-0.05*60%) = 0.04 * (0.97) = 0.0388 each
After clicking on the x'ed DEC button in our cart we buy the cards for 25.016 DEC.
Monstermarket sends us the cashback right into our hive account
25.016 * 0.03 = 0.75048 exactly what we received rounded to the 3rd decimal point.
b) We don't buy from the market. Instead we use the Peakmonsters.com bid system to get cards basiclly before other people have the chance to buy listed Crypt Beetles. As long as it fits into our bcx and price range.
Currently, the best bid for Crypt Beetle is 0.039 that's roughly the same as the 0.0388 we paid on Monstermarket. I mean we could outbid him and place our at 0.04, but since we think the price should be around 0.045 our margin shrinks, so I would rather try to get the Crypt Beetle for a max of 0.038. This way it won't fill our bids instantly, but as soon as the other person bought his 30 cards its our turn. This way we can protect our profit margin. So let's click the bid button to enter our bid.
So I'm trying to fill up to 10 cards at 0.038
Now we have to wait till our order gets filled.
Selling
The best way to sell our Crypt Beetles is via Peakmonsters, because they offer us the opportunity to sell our cards at a lower fee percentage. The downside is, our cards are not shown on the splinterlands.com marketplace. Only the secondary markets Peakmonsters/Monstermarket/Cardauctionz are going to display our cards. Since we are acting on thin margins, I'm willing to sacrifice the official site as a potential market and rather save 1% in fees.
We offer up all our Crypt Beetles for 0.045 with a 4% fee. Then we wait till our cards are sold out. In case our market estimates are correct we sell pretty quick. If the cards don't move in a time frame of 1 or 2 days, consider repricing your cards.
Monitor https://peakmonsters.com/@your_account/history so that you can see when cards are bought and sold.
Incase we sell a Crypt Beetle at 0.045, our profit would we:
Sold: 0.045 * (1-0.04) = 0.045 * 0.96 = 0.0432
Bought: 0.04 * (1-0.05*60%) = 0.04 * (0.97) = 0.0388
Profit: 0.0432-0.0388= 0.0044
So roughly 1.5 DEC that doesn't sound like much but it can add up.
