A veces pienso en como se sentirán los cachorros cuando entran por primera vez al consultorio. Muchos son muy curiosos apenas cruzan la puerta, quieren oler y morder todo lo que encuentren en su camino, pero normalmente se les dice a los dueños que los retengan en sus brazos mientras esperan su turno, para así evitar posibles accidentes, debido a que como aún son cachorritos y no están vacunados o se encuentran en el proceso de vacunación, es una forma de disminuir las probabilidades de que adquieran una enfermedad.
La locura llega al momento de la consulta, algunos no paran de moverse, se fastidian, se quejan como si fueran bebés, mientras que otros se quedan estáticos, sin hacer nada, deseando que la consulta termine, pero mis favoritos son los que se divierten y creen que estamos jugando con ellos, son casos de casos jaja. Está experiencia para ellos es muy importante aunque no les guste del todo, debido a que la manipulación los acostumbra a dejarse tratar por el veterinario cuando se encuentren en su etapa adulta.
Los cachorros son como una esponja (así como decimos lo mismo de los niños), todo lo que se les enseñe a esa edad es importante para su desarrollo, lo que deben y no deben de hacer, dónde hacer sus necesidades, familiarizarse con el manejo del veterinario y muchas cosas más.
Este amiguito se portó muy bien. Luego de que el veterinario lo evaluara y obtuviera una muestra de sangre para realizar la hematología, me quedé un rato con la mascota para practicar la evaluación física (por supuesto con el permiso de los dueños jeje). Una de las razones por las que he sido constante al venir a la clínica, es el poder moldear mis habilidades y sensibilizar mis sentidos durante la inspección física, ya que para el veterinario es muy importante tener un buen olfato, poder sentir y medir estructuras diminutas con los dedos, visualizar y diferenciar colores, posturas y formas, pero lo más importante es tener la capacidad de analizar toda esa información para llegar a un diagnóstico definitivo.
De esta manera, puede que para algunas mascotas sea estresante ir al veterinario debido a que en su mayor parte es sinónimo de inyecciones, pastillas, catéter endovenoso, exámenes de heces y paro de contar. Siendo sinceros ¿A quien no le da miedo a veces ir al médico?
Con los Felinos la historia cambia un poco, debido a que ellos son mucho más difíciles de manejar, y son la causa de las infinidades de heridas que poseen los veterinarios en sus manos. Sin embargo, he visto gatos que se han portado excelente, que le dan un giro de 180° a todo, son cariñosos y se dejan revisar de una manera espectacular. Sé que ellos tienden a ser más independientes e inteligentes que los perros, pero también se ha de notar que son muy conservadores, a pesar de esto, saber lo que piensan es algo que me intriga, ¿Que opinión tendrán ellos de nosotros? ¿De verdad pensarán que les haremos daño? Esto último lo dudo mucho, ya que he podido presenciar casos en los que luego del tratamiento ellos terminan muy agradecidos y se comportan mucho mejor que antes, por el contrario, hay veces en las que algunas mascotas que tienen historia de ser agresivas sabemos que están mejorando debido a que comienzan a gruñir, mostrar los dientes y hasta intentar rasguñarnos jajaja.
A pesar de todo, los animales me fascinan, principalmente los perros y gatos, sin embargo también soy amante de los animales en general. Cada especie es un mundo, y para poderlos estudiar a todos es un reto muy grande, y más aún saber que piensan. Lo importante es saber que estamos haciendo las cosas bien, todo para su beneficio.

This experience is very important for them, even if they don't like it at all, because the manipulation usually allows them to be more docile when treated by the vet in the future (in their adult years).
Puppies are like a sponge (as we say the same about children), everything they are taught at that age is important for their development, what they should and should not do, where to do their needs, become familiar with the handling of the vet and many other things.
This little buddy was very well behaved. With the cats the story changes a little, because they are much more difficult to handle, and are the cause of the infinite number of wounds that veterinarians have in their hands. However, I have seen them behave excellently, be affectionate and let themselves be checked in a spectacular way. I know that they tend to be more independent and intelligent than dogs, but it should also be noted that they are very conservative, despite this, knowing what they think is something that intrigues me, what opinion will they have of us? Will they really think that we will hurt them? I doubt it very much, since I have been able to witness cases in which they end up very grateful and behave much better than before. On the other hand, there are times in which some pets that have a history of being aggressive we know that they are much better because they begin to grunt, show their teeth and even try to scratch us hahaha.
In spite of everything, animals fascinate me, mainly dogs and cats, however, I am also a lover of animals in general. Each species is a world, and to be able to study them all is a great challenge, and even more so to know what they think. The important thing is to know that we are doing things right, all for their benefit.

Cómo estudiante activo estás registrando el comportamiento de los animales, está experiencia te prepara para saber cómo abordar la diversidad de conducta a la hora de asistir.
Es un enigma saber qué piensa, pero en lo que estamos de acuerdo es que son incondicionales, así expresan lo que siente.
