In this post today I am going to talk to you about blood donations.
Pero antes de eso... ¿Sabéis que es la sangre exactamente?
La sangre es un líquido, de color rojo en los vertebrados, que, impulsado por el corazón, circula por los vasos sanguíneos del cuerpo de las personas y los animales, transportando oxígeno, alimentos y productos de desecho.

Blood is a liquid, red in color in vertebrates, which, driven by the heart, circulates through the blood vessels of the body of people and animals, carrying oxygen, food and waste products.
No todas las personas pueden donar sangre, estas son los motivos en los que bajo ningún concepto te van a dejar donar sangre:
- Si estas en ayunas
- Pesas menos de 50 kilos
- Te has hecho un tatuaje hace menos de 4 meses.
- Tienes mas de 60 años y no has donado nunca.
- Estás embarazada.
- Estas tomando antibióticos
- Te han hecho una transfusión en el Reino Unido.
- Tienes la tensión descontrolada.
- Eres diabético y te tratas con insulina.
- Si sufres o has pasado una enfermedad infecciosa (VIH, Hepatitis, etc).
We already know that blood is a precious commodity that we all have in our bodies and that it is easily regenerated. Whether due to an accident, an operation or a complicated delivery, for example, in many cases it saves lives and if it were not for the altruism of some people, many others would lose their lives.
Not all people can donate blood, these are the reasons that under no circumstances will they let you donate blood:
- If you are fasting
- Weights less than 50 kilos
- You have had a tattoo less than 4 months ago.
- You are over 60 years old and have never donated.
- You are pregnant.
- You are taking antibiotics
- You've had a transfusion in the UK.
- Your blood pressure is out of control.
- You are diabetic and you take insulin.
- If you suffer or have had an infectious disease (HIV, Hepatitis, etc).
Existen 8 tipos de sangre, en la siguiente imagen os los muestro.

Desafortunadamente no todos los tipos de sangre les vienen bien a todo el mundo, es decir, según que tipo de sangre seas, puedes donar a algunas personas y no a otras y pasa lo mismo para recibir, no toso pueden donarte sangre a ti, tienen que tener un tipo de sangre como el tuyo o que sea equivalente.
En la siguiente tabla os muestro la equivalencia en los tipos de sangre:
Unfortunately, not all blood types are good for everyone, that is, depending on what type of blood you are, you can donate to some people and not to others and the same thing happens to receive, not all they can donate blood to you, they have than having a blood type like yours or equivalent.

Como veis en la imagen anterior, la fila de arriba refleja el donante y la de la izquierda el receptor de la sangre, por ejemplo, el tipo de sangre "AB+" puede recibir sangre de todos los demás pero él solo puede donar a los que tengan su mismo tipo de sangre. Sin embargo el "0-" puede donar todo el mundo pero a él solo le pueden donar los que tengan su mismo tipo de sangre.
As you can see in the previous image, the top row reflects the donor and the one on the left the blood recipient, for example, the "AB +" blood type can receive blood from everyone else but he can only donate to those who have the same blood type. However, the "0-" can donate everyone but he can only donate those who have the same blood type.

En definitiva, donar sangre hace mucho a bien a todo el mundo y es algo que no nos cuesta dinero ni trabajo, puede parecer doloroso pero os aseguro que para nada, un pinchacito y listo.
Yo soy donante de sangre desde que tenía 18 años y llevo bastante donaciones. Os cuento una anecdota: Una vez en la revisión previa por un médico que te hacen ver antes de donar, la médico me dio las gracias y me dijo textualmente
¨ Durante el parto de mi hijo perdí mucha sangre y si no fuera por gente como tú, hoy no estaría aquí.¨
Esas palabras me marcaron y la verdad me sentí orgulloso de formar parte de este grupo de personas maravillosas.
In short, donating blood does a lot of good to everyone and it is something that does not cost us money or work, it may seem painful but I assure you that for nothing, a little prick and that's it.
I have been a blood donor since I was 18 years old and I have been donating a lot. I tell you an anecdote: Once in the previous review by a doctor that they made you see before donating, the doctor thanked me and said verbatim
¨During the delivery of my son I lost a lot of blood and if it weren't for people like you, I wouldn't be here today.¨
Those words marked me and the truth was I was proud to be part of this group of wonderful people.
España (el país donde vivo) está el numero 6 en donaciones de sangre del mundo y eso me hacen sentirme orgulloso.
Spain (the country where I live) is number 6 in blood donations in the world and that makes me feel proud.
