Hola amigos de HIVE!!! Espero se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes toda mi experiencia sobre como fue un día completo en la sala de traumatologia del hospital de mi ciudad.

Hello friends of HIVE !!! I hope you are very well, today I want to share with you all my experience about how it was a full day in the trauma room of the hospital in my city.

Como ya les había contado, soy estudiante de medicina y aunque apenas estoy en 3er semestre, desde antes de empezar la universidad he estado haciendo muchos cursos sobre suturas, primeros auxilios y haciendo pasantias en el hospital, entre todos esos cursos conocí al Dr. Antonio que es adjunto de traumatologia del hospital central, un día estábamos hablando y me dijo que si quería podía ir a una guardia con el, obviamente dije que si de una vez porque me encanta aprender sobre esto.

Llego el día de ir y el me había dicho que ese día tendría una cirugía y que iba a poder entrar!! Estaba muy emocionada porque iba a ser mi primera vez en el quirofano, debo admitir que estaba un poco nerviosa.
El paciente de la cirugía tenia una fractura diafisiaria de fémur y le colocarian un tutor.

As I had already told you, I am a medical student and although I am only in the 3rd semester, since before starting university I have been doing many courses on sutures, first aid and doing internships at the hospital, among all those courses I met Dr. Antonio He is a traumatology adjunct at the central hospital, one day we were talking and he told me that if I wanted I could go to a guard with him, obviously I said yes at once because I love learning about it.

The day came to go and he had told me that that day he would have surgery and that he would be able to enter !! I was very excited because it was going to be my first time in the operating room, I must admit I was a little nervous.
The surgery patient had a femur diaphyseal fracture and a tutor would be placed.

Mi experiencia en el quirofano definitivamente me encanto, aunque claramente solo podía ver el procedimiento, pensaba que en los quirofanos era todo muy serio cuando en realidad es todo lo contrario, los doctores hablan de absolutamente todo, incluso hasta ponen música jajaja, el ambiente es bastante agradable. Las cirugías de traumatologia son muy impactantes porque utilizan muchas herramientas y se ejerce mucha fuerza. Ademas hace mucho frió, sentía que me estaba congelando pero ya después me acostumbre.

I definitely loved my experience in the operating room, although I could clearly only see the procedure, I thought that in the operating room it was all very serious when in reality it is the opposite, the doctors talk about absolutely everything, they even play music hahaha, the atmosphere is quite nice. Traumatology surgeries are very impressive because they use many tools and a lot of force is exerted.
It is also very cold, I felt that I was freezing but after I got used to it.

Luego de la cirugía, bajamos a la sala de traumatologia y ahí pasamos el resto del día, aquí si pude realizar procedimientos como curas, suturas y ayudar a las tracciones de fracturas, es bastante agotador porque llegan muchos pacientes, no hay oportunidad de descanso aunque para mi era bien porque lo que quería era ver muchos casos y estaba emocionada por hacer muchas cosas.

After the surgery, we went down to the trauma room and spent the rest of the day there, here if I could perform procedures such as cures, sutures and help fracture tractions, it is quite exhausting because many patients arrive, there is no opportunity to rest although For me it was good because what I wanted was to see many cases and I was excited to do many things.

Lo mejor de todo es poder hablar con los pacientes y poder ayudarlos a aliviar su dolor, también a veces ellos se desahogan y nos cuentas sus cosas mientras se hacen los procedimientos y así se hace bastante amena la conversación. También algunos son muy agradecidos y a veces te dan de lo poco que tienen en forma de gratitud y es muy lindo!

The best thing of all is to be able to talk to patients and be able to help them alleviate their pain, sometimes they also let off steam and tell us about their things while the procedures are being done, making the conversation quite enjoyable. Also some are very grateful and sometimes they give you what little they have in the form of gratitude and it is very nice!
