How is PEAKD doing these days? The project is around for a long time now and has been developing a lot of things on Hive. Some of them DHF funded. PEAKD has established itself as the most used frontend on the Hive blockchain. The team around it has been involved in the ecosystem for a long time and they have continuously built and updating it.
The team is also working on a Peak Open project that is funded from the DHF and have more tools for the ecosystem.
Let’s take a look at some of the data.
Here we will take a look at the activity on the platform, the overall number of posts and comments, and the number of users. The top content creators for the last 30 days will be presented as well.
The period that we will be looking at is from April 2020 till Feb 2025.
Posts
First let us see the number of posts coming from the PeakD.
Here is the chart.
Some ups and downs here. At the beginning in 2020 there was around 1200 post per day, then this number increase to around 1600 in the bull market in 2021-2022, and a slow drop afterwards to around 900 post.
The lows were reached recently in 2024 when there was around 600 daily posts. In the last two months we have seen a recovery and we are now around 800 posts per day.
This chart follows the price a lot, just with a smaller volatility.
Comments
The chart above was only about posts.
What about comments? PeakD recently introduced Snaps, a short form so the activity here should be going up.
Here is the number of comments made per day from PeakD.
We can clearly see the pump at the end of 2024, from around 4k up to 6k comments daily.
Previously in the bull market of 2021 the ATH for comments was around 8k. Not that far away.
Posts and Comments
When we combine the posts and comments on one chart we get this.
The comments are dominatign the chart as there are more comments than posts. Post and comments has been in the range of 6k to 8k up to April 2024, but then they dropped and increased ahain in the last months to around 6k.
When we polot the numbers on a monthly timeframe we get this.
We can see the increase in the last months here as well. Especially for the comments. Cumulative close to 200k monthly posts and comments in January 2025.
Active Authors
How about the numbers of the authors on the PeakD. How many accounts are posting?
Here is a chart for the monthly numbers of accounts posting.
The all-time high for MAUs on PeakD was back in April 2022, with 7.5k monthly active users that were making posts and comments. A drop since then to 4k in 2024 and a spike in the last two months to 5k users. This chat is less volatile than the others.
Next the number of unique authors that posted from PeakD. These are authors that posted directly through the frontend.
The number of unique PeakD authors is showing continuous steady growth.
There is more than 40k unique authors that have used PeakD to post. In 2024 a total of 6k new accounts have tired PeakD for the first time. In 2023 a total of 7k new accounts used PeakD for the first time.
Authors that Posted the Most
Here is the rank of the authors that posted the most in the last 30 days on PeakD.
There seems to be some spam accounts at the very top.
There is some community run projects that report daily and some genuine account in the second half of the ranks.
Authors that Commented the Most
Here is the rank of the authors that commented the most in the last 30 days on PeakD.
More genuine accounts when it comes to commenting when compared to posting, although some spam as well. Great job with the engagement for the top accounts here. @wiseagent is on the top!
Overall, we can see that there is an increase in the activity on PeakD in the last two months, mostly due to the HIVE price action. In the previous years there has been a drop from the previous ATH in the first half of 2022. Comments have proven to be more resilient and the drop in the numbers of comments is smaller than the number of posts. The number of authors is also more constant.
All the best
@dalz
Great work on this, @dalz.
I'm so proud of what I'm doing here. It's a pleasure to be part of this ecosystem.
I certainly tend to use Peakd the most.
I think it has the most appealing look…. So if I onboard new people, I show them with peakd
We certanly need that onbording :)
I use PeakD quite a bit myself. Unless I'm sharing posts from an outpost site, PeakD generally has the cleanest look for sharing something outside of Hive.
Peaks is really doing well and deserves to be the most used frontend on hive. Peakd outclasses other hive frontends in almost every aspect. It's a proof the developers are putting in a lot of efforts into improving it.
It's good to see an uptick in activity recently. There are some really spammy accounts out there, but I assume they are not posting manually. I prefer peakd to the other front ends as it just feels and looks better. Snaps works well too. That said, we do need to have multiple options.
The multiple frontends option is such a great thing, web 2 people are missing out a lot and not even awere of the concept
FB might actually be usable with a different front end that just showed what you want to see.
Unique authors graph is rising nicely!
Yea finaly
Sometimes writing on HIVE feels like murmuring into the void. For me, its important to get my thoughts out - and if there is any engagement, I'm overwhelmed, as many of my friends are often too busy to discuss the things I write about on HIVE in as much depth as those rare, cherished comments I get.
HIVE is a wait to do some intellectual exercise outside of my normal circle. Keeps me smart.
Prety much ... you come here, and do your thing ... might get a traction, m8ght not ..but still a freat way to have a futfiling hoby
I get read more my non-hive users than Hive users. From a rewards perspective that's not ideal, but from hopefully bringing people to Hive that is more optimal.
We're social creatures, some of us value engagement a lot, too :) If I'm creating something to tell a story or share a thing that I did, I want to see / hear other people's opinions on it, too - otherwise, what is the point of doing it in the first place?
If traction fails, try a lower RPM and less throttle!
With this analysis, it is looking like a lot of people are actually interacting with peaks frontend
Nice! I luv peakd. it's one of the big reasons i chose to do hive after steemit days.. it's so cool and looks so nice! glad to see peakd is in good shape.. #'s wise. :)
I tend to use peakD for on-chain transaction, but weirdly enough, I prefer Hive.blog for scrolling and making comments.
These are some decent numbers. Maybe you'll do something like this too for Hive.blog
Yea, comming soon in a overall comparison post
Keep them coming

I love the way PeakD works, for me it's the best Hive front-end
Peaks is the most user friendly and easy to understand...
Plus it's pretty sleek, so I'm almost always on peakd.

I frequently use snaps and I can tell that activity there increasing.
I love peakd because it reveals alot of hidden activities other front end wont show. And with every passing day it keeps improving.,
