What's the point of creating lists of users from a specific country on Hive?
Being from the same country doesn't seem to matter much here on Hive. We are citizens of the world. If there's someone from my country, it's just easier to organize meetups... but is it? I often meet Hive users from different countries more frequently than those from my own.
Maybe the role of profile locations is underestimated or underutilized?
I requested Turkey because, as @steevc said, I was curious about other Hive users in my country. I already know most of them, but there are some I have never seen.
I think it has some value for organising communities. It seems a lot of people do not realise that there are other Hivers in their area. I know with the Nigerian list people expressed surprise at how many there were.
I've gained a lot from local meetups and plan to organise more. I do the Brit list monthly, but I want to leave it up to the local communities to manage the rest.
It's easy to find the obvious accounts, but as I say, the metadata is inconsistent.
I am considering taking on some of the other big ones like Indonesia and Venezuela, but others will be by request.
