we were getting a lot of new users.
I've seen no sign of that. I checked a couple dozen of the accounts Hive Onboarding reported, and 1 of them had any activity, appearing to be a sock someone was using to mine Vibes. None of the other ~1500 accounts 'onboarded' appeared to be a new user, eager to post and curate on Hive with their new account. They're just socks, adding to the stables of the well staked who have tens of thousands of accounts... for some reason.
Anyway, I sure can't wait for AI to be able to post and upvote on Hive as if it were a real person, can you?
'AI' is not going to add real value. We need people and it seems to be hard to recruit those who will stick around. Same old problem.
I absolutely agree with you. AI posts will simply automate Hive, eliminating actual people from society, and will prove that Hive wasn't an actual social media platform at all, but simply an upvote mining scheme, if that happens.
It is for this reason I oppose automating any social interactions on Hive. All social interactions, upvotes, posts, comments, etc., of any kind, must be manually taken by actual human beings or Hive faces the prospect of being simply automated, and not actual people interacting at all, not social media. I am here to interact with people. If I wanted to bot something, I'd do it on WOW, or send my Tesla robot to dig gravel for me instead of breaking my back myself.
