This year's Ilinden Days festival has started. Although I am a passionate sports fan, I am happy that last night I watched the parade of tradition and culture on the occasion of the festival's opening instead of the opening of the Olympic Games.
At the same time, in addition to the traditional dances held 54 times, there is also the 5th edition of The Science of Ethnomusicology and Ethnochoreology and the Practice of Folklore in the Balkans conference and an international ethnographic film festival.
We had the opportunity to smile on the faces of young and older people from all over the world: Bolivia, USA, Turkey, Cyprus, South Korea, Serbia, Macedonia- of course, Mexico, etc.
"If the world is one great art installation, a big part of it belongs to the tradition.
The tradition that we often take for granted, as if it was given to us as a gift from our ancestors, but it defines us as a people. I am committed to celebrating the diversity that enriches our world and working hand in hand to build a more beautiful, more inclusive, happier world."* Maja A Ilijevski*
