Well, the Titans season started off their 2024 campaign with a pretty fun game! I can't put my finger on it but the vibes at Nissan Stadium seemed pretty electric for a preseason game especially. The Titans played well and that always helps, but I guess all the 'new' vibes and having a young promising QB talent helps bring the fanbase to life a bit. The possible prospect at a decade or more of competitive football is an exciting feeling.
Defensively the defense actually could have played better in my opinion, but still, they played ok and bounced back after a bit of a rough start.
Second year man Kearis Jackson made his presence felt with an awesome sixty-three yard kick return! That was awesome, and definitely attracted attention considering the new kickoff format. I could be wrong, but I believe this was the first significant return the NFL has seen in this new format.
This helped Will Levis and company enjoy their own first touchdown of the day. Levis took a pretty big hit which stinks but it did not seem to impact him whatsoever. In fact, the very next play Levis QB sneaked his way into the endzone. Kind of a ballsy move, hate to see Levis take so much contact but hey, this is football baby.
Later though, Levis and company really shined on offense. Players we fans expect to see produce in 2024 really did pretty well last night! Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley and Tyjae Spears all had good moments in the game. This was exciting!!! The potential is clearly pretty real.
Defensively, third year linebacker Chance Campbell, who was interestingly drafted in the Jon Robinson era, had a team leading five tackles, a sack and an interception. He was very noticeable in general.
All in all I am really liking what I am seeing after the first preseason game! Great energy and effort all around. It may be just preseason but, I'd still rather see the Titans play WELL, than not!
