It was 4 years ago that I got my first dual sport. I used to do a lot of off-road riding when I was a kid. I wasn't sure if I'd still be into it, or even if I could still ride off road so I bought a cheap Chinese dual sport from CSC motorcycles in California. At the time, they shipped a brand new motorcycle to your door for the whopping price of $2300 with free shipping! 🤣 Honestly, I also wanted to see how a $2300 new motorcycle runs. Frankly, I was pretty impressed.
This was the second motorcycle I bought with crypto trading gains. For a minute, I was thinking I'd buy a new motorcycle each trading season. I bought the Honda at the end of the 2017 bull market, and bought this at the start of the 2018 bear market.
One of the first long trips I took on this bike was to Rochester NY. I've written about the Genesess brewery and brewhouse before here.
I've posted this image before. I try to make at least one trip to the brewhouse each season. It's just a nice ride and only about an hour and a half away from my hometown of Buffalo NY. On this occasion I was buying a specialty 12 pack of beer for my father as a gift. That's what I have stuffed in the backpack in the first picture. My father is one of those old dudes that wont drink anything but Genesee. It's a local favorite amongst old timers 🤣 Although the specialty beers are growing among the younger crowd.
This is the brewery here. The tiny brewhouse sits right next to it. I rolled into town just before dusk.
I wish this photo would have turned out better. I just love this shot. The sun was just setting as I arrived in Rochester. I stopped in this park to snap this picture. It's about 5 minutes from the brewery. The image doesn't really do it justice. It was quite a view with the reflection of the buildings hitting the water in the pink dusk light. The combination of natural light from the sky and neon lights from the city was actually breathtaking. At the time I didn't have the best phone for these images.
This waterfall is just outside the brewhouse. I really wish I would have had a better camera because it's a pretty gorgeous scene with the water and cityscape reflecting off it.
It's funny because it seems like just yesterday I snapped these. I can't believe it was 2018. I still have this motorcycle. It has about 6K miles on it. Something's wrong with the motor though. It starts and runs, but it sounds like something is off. This summer I plan on tearing into the engine and seeing what's wrong with it.
Because it's a cheap inexpensive motorcycle I'd like to tweak it out a bit and use if for trick riding and stunts. My DR is way to big for stuff like that. You can almost throw this little 250 around like a BMX bicycle 🤣 I'm really rusty at trick riding and would never consider it with the DR. It's to heavy and to expensive to fix when something breaks.
Here's one last photo of the CSC parked next to my friends DR. I think it's a DR400. You can't tell from the picture but that DR has a lot of custom work done to it. This is actually the ride that got me back into off-roading. I actually forgot how much I liked it. My friend took me to these trails and it was probably the first time riding off-road in at least 20 years. We had a blast. The bikes are clean because we were riding through this creek bed. We stopped by this bridge for a bite of lunch.
Well that's all folks. 6 photos from 2018.
This is post 29 in this months #HiveBloPoMo. 1 day to go! Looking forward to completing this challenge.
I've never ridden a motorbike properly off road. I expect it's a different feeling to the road. Could be fun though. I enjoy following your travels and experiments.

I enjoy riding off road more than on road. There's just more freedom, plus its fun to get out and get dirty 🤣 As adults we don't spend enough time in the mud IMHO. 🤣
Thank you and thanks for following them. I really enjoy posting this stuff because I relive the memories each time! It's funny how a photo can bring back a flood of memories.
Cheers brother!

It really doesn't matter too much with some photos when they are technically imperfect because they still bring back the memories of when we took them.
I honestly am looking forward to your upcoming summer trip photos. Hopefully, some of them will be offroad 🤞
So true! Exactly why I kept them too.
