It was a warm, sunny weekend, and Nick and I got out just to not stay in town. Rural roads always lead to something interesting. This time strange hills stretch on one side. After all, I know there are no mountains in this area. And yet, despite the strong wind, incomprehensible sounds were heard from somewhere. And we decided to get out there.
Був теплий, сонячний вихідний, і ми поїхали просто щоб не залишатись у місті. Грунтові дороги завжди приводять до чогось цікавого. Того разу з одного боку тягнутись дивні гори. Адже в цій місцевості немає гір. А ще, попри сильний вітер, звідкісь лунали незрозумілі звуки. І ми вирішили видертись туди.
It became clear at once that these hills are man-made. The ground or whatever slipped underfoot. Although, judging by the height of the trees, they have been here for a long time.
Одразу стало зрозуміло, що ці пагорби рукотворні. Земля, чи як це назвати, не була втрамбована і сповзала під ногами. Хоча, судячи з висоти дерев, вони тут досить давно.
I'm not sure what this ditch is made for, but I don't want to jump over it. Fortunately, Nick found a way to go. So, there are people here.

All right, this is a quarry where granite is mined. It is very very noisy, the sounds are repeatedly reflected from the stone walls, amplified and create an interesting effect.
Перед нами кар'єр, де добувають граніт. Тут дуже шумно, звуки багатократно відбиваються від кам'яних стін, посилюються і створюють цікавий ефект.
And extremely windy. It seems that if I stand on the edge, the wind will pick me up like a crow and carry me to the opposite side.
А ще страшенно вітряно. Здається, що якщо стати на край, то вітер підхопить мене, як ворону, і понесе на протилежний бік.
All this deafening cocophony is created by a few small, toy-like cars below.
Всю цю оглушливу кокофонію створюють декілька маленьких, мов іграшкових, машинок унизу.
For the first time I see a working quarry so close. I take one more look and get back to the car.
Ніколи раніше не бачила працюючий кар'єр так зблизька. Ще трошки подивлюсь, і повертаємось до машини.
Next, we will find a beautiful lake with such a deep-blue water and dark yellow-orange sand. Incredible beauty. It's amazing how easily nature creates its masterpieces.
Далі нас чекає прекрасне озеро з синьою-пресиньою водою і темно-жовто-оранжевим піском. Неймовірна краса. Дивовижно, як легко природа створює свої шедеври.
Although the air is warm, the tanning season is over. We are the only people here.
Хоч повітря тепле, але сезон засмаги вже закінчився. На цьому озері лише ми.
A sandy spit divides it into two parts. I need to look closer.
Посередині піщана коса ділить його на дві частини. Треба подивитись ближче.
The sand isthmus was not continuous. Wind and waves broke it somewhere between one shore and another.
Піщаний перешийок виявився не суцільним. Вітер і хвилі розірвали його десь між одним берегом та іншим.
It is impossible to break away from bright colors and their perfect combination. I'd love to stay here longer, but we don't even have anything to sit on. So we had some more fun with the wind and drove toward home.
Від яскравих кольорів і їх неймовірного поєднання неможливо відірватись. Хочеться залишитись тут надовше, але нам навіть нема на що сісти. Тому ми ще трохи порозважались із вітром і поїхали додому.
