Greetings to the entire YouHive community.
I Back again to the centuries of confinement (2020- ). I already expressed in my previous post how in those years of confinement, youtube became one of those (almost obligatory) entertainments that made my life less unpleasant. This time, I will present the (wonderful) Tiny Desk concerts of the NPR music channel, in my own way :
Millions of years ago, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth..., maybe a bit later, no need to exaggerate.
I start again: in an era when there was no internet there lived a humanity that also survived such a lack. I am living or dying (I don't know) proof of that.
Is it possible to live without the internet? I can assure you that it is possible. Not only that, it also has its advantages. Of course, it also has its disadvantages.
Let's talk about music. In those lost, almost forgotten years, and being a member of a family saga of poor people, access to unconventional musical novelties was a whole road full of obstacles.
If someone wanted to know the new groups of the British New Wave, there was no choice but to go to specialized radio programs. This can be extended to other minority genres.
As a sample: many nights I stole hours of sleep to listen to Tren 3 of Radio Nacional de España. Those were exciting moments, you would discover the latest Blues news or lifelong classics (of others) that you would listen to for the first time those nights of voluntary insomnia. “First times” that on countless occasions I would record them so I could listen to those programs again. Although it may seem strange, this recording of radio programs was a widespread practice among many lovers of “non-commercial” music. It was record or die (lose the opportunity to listen to certain songs or groups again).

So much for the disadvantages. The great advantage of this analog world of scarce resources was that, in the back and forth of sharing discs, tapes or buying pirated tapes, you were meeting interesting people face to face. Another source of information was the fanzines, small, totally amateur magazines, in which you could find many details about singers, music labels, the live music scene, etc. From these prehistoric times I still keep great friends (like The Yeti).

I must confess that nowadays, at my age, I no longer miss those advantages, and I am grateful for the great facilities we now have to find new releases or rarities outside the commercial circuits. Back to 2020.
I was looking for George Clinton's videos on youtube, when I came across a live performance of this great artist (creator of P-Funk) accompanied by The P-Funk All Stars. This performance was part of the so-called Tiny Desk concerts. The formula is simple: live musicians, uncut, in one take, singing and playing without resorting to playback, or any other electronic gimmick.
After this first visit to the Tiny Desk, youtube, which is very efficient, tagged me and soon I got notices of other concerts that interested me. Before long I became a follower of NPR music Tiny Desk concerts.
What is NPR Music? NPR Music is a division of National Public Radio (NPR), America's public radio, and among its offerings are the Tiny Desk Concerts. Concerts that help me, without complications, to get to know new artists that I would not know otherwise.
I end on a note that I find more than interesting, although I have mentioned on several occasions “non-commercial”; the Tiny Desk have almost ten million followers more than deserved, and in them you can also see established artists along with other newer ones.
The two concerts I'm presenting today are part of the NPR Music celebration of Latinidad (9/15/24 through 10/15/24):

Of the two videos I present I will say little, as this post is dedicated to the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts channel. But something must be said.... I have chosen two proposals that may seem two opposites, however they are united by a common element: the exquisiteness of the proposal.
Of the Catalan Rita Payés Roma I can affirm that she possesses the quality to sing as she speaks, that she is a prodigy of naturalness. Attention to the lyrics, attention to the string quartet, attention to Elisabeth Roma's guitar, attention to the rhythmic base, attention, attention...., and more attention...😍
The Argentinians Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso are simply amazing. In a few minutes they have been able to evoke themes of Sergio Mendes, Stevie Wonder, Quincey Jones, Micahel Jackson, Deodato Chick Corea, Lonnie Liston Smith, Perez Prado, Miles Davies,Jamiroquai..,🕺 They really are a burst of colors full of rhythm and fantasy. With a pop and fresh air that I love.
These two proposals may seem opposite, one is intimate and the other is purely urban. But in my opinion they complement each other, one sounds like mint and the other like a good hot chocolate. Each has its moment.

De nuevo volvemos a los siglos de confinamiento (2020- ). Ya expresé en en mi anterior publicación como en esos años de encierro, youtube se convirtió en uno de esos entretenimientos (casi obligatorio) que hicieron de mi vida algo menos desagradable. En esta ocasión, presentaré los conciertos (maravillosos) Tiny Desk del canal NPR music, a mi manera:
Hace millones de años, cuando los dinosaurios reinaban sobre la Tierra…, quizás un poco más tarde, no hay que exagerar.
Comienzo de nuevo: en una era en la que no existía el internet vivió una humanidad que además sobrevivió a tal carencia. Yo soy una prueba viviente o muriente (no sé) de ello.
¿Se puede vivir sin el internet? Puedo asegurar que es posible. No sólo eso, también tiene sus ventajas. Claro, también sus desventajas.
Hablemos de música. En esos años perdidos, casi olvidados, y siendo miembro de una saga familiar de gente pobre, el acceso a las novedades musicales no convencionales era todo un camino lleno de obstáculos.
Por ejemplo, si alguien quería conocer los nuevos grupos de la New Wave británica, no quedaba más remedio que acudir a programas de radio especializados. Esto se puede extender a otros géneros minoritarios.
Como muestra: muchas noches le robaba horas al sueño para escuchar el Tren 3 de Radio Nacional de España. Eran momentos excitantes, descubrías las últimas novedades del Blues o clásicos de toda la vida (de otros) que escuchabas por primera vez esas noches de insomnio voluntario. “Primeras veces” que en innumerables ocasiones las grababa para poder escuchar esos programas de nuevo. Aunque parezca algo extraño, esto de grabar programas de radio era una práctica generalizada entre numerosos amantes de las músicas “no comerciales”. Era grabar o morir (perder la oportunidad de volver a escuchar determinadas canciones o grupos).

Hasta aquí, las desventajas. La gran ventaja de este mundo analógico y de recursos escasos era que, en los va y ven de compartir discos, cintas o comprando cintas piratas, ibas conociendo gente bastante interesante y cara a cara. Otra fuente de información fueron los fanzines, pequeñas revistas totalmente amateurs, en las que podías encontrar muchos detalles de cantantes, sellos de música, de la escena musical en vivo, etc. De estos tiempos prehistóricos todavía conservo grandes amigos (como el Yeti).

Debo de confesar que en la actualidad, a mi edad, ya no añoro esas ventajas, y agradezco las grandes facilidades que ahora tenemos para encontrar novedades o rarezas fuera de los circuitos comerciales. Volvemos a 2020.
Me encontraba rebuscando por youtube videos de George Clinton, cuando me encontré con una actuación en directo de este artistazo (creador del P-Funk) acompañado por The P-Funk All Stars. Actuación que formaba parte de unos llamados conciertos Tiny Desk. La fórmula es simple: músicos en directo, sin cortes, en una sola toma, cantando y tocando sin recurrir al playback, ni a ninguna otra artimaña electrónica.
Tras esta primera visita a los Tiny Desk, youtube, que es muy eficiente, me etiquetó y pronto me llegaron avisos de otros conciertos que me interesaron. En poco tiempo me convertí en un seguidor de NPR music Tiny Desk concerts.
¿Qué es NPR Music? NPR Music es una división de la National Public Radio (NPR), la radio pública de EE.UU., y entre sus oferta de actividades se encuentran los Tiny Desk Concerts. Conciertos que me sirven, sin complicaciones, para conocer artistas nuevos que seguramente de otra forma no conocería.
Termino con una nota que me parece más que interesante, aunque he mencionado en varias ocasiones “no comercial”; los Tiny Desk cuentan con unos casi diez millones de seguidores más que merecidos, y en ellos también se pueden ver a artistas ya consagrados junto a otros más nóveles.
Los dos conciertos que presento hoy forman parte de la celebración NPR Music de la Latinidad (del 15/09/24 hasta el 15/10/24):

De estos dos videos que presento poco tengo que decir, ya que esta publicación está dedicada al canal NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts. Pero algo hay que decir…. He escogido dos propuestas que pueden parecer dos contrarios, sin embargo les une un elemento en común: la exquisitez de la propuesta.
De la catalana Rita Payés Roma puedo afirmar que posee la cualidad de cantar como habla, que es un prodigio de naturalidad. Atención a las letras, atención al cuarteto de cuerda, atención a la guitarra de Elisabeth Roma, atención a la base rítmica, atención, atención,... y más atención...😍
Los argentinos Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso son simplemente sorprendentes. En unos pocos minutos han sido capaces de evocarme temas de Sergio Mendes, Stevie Wonder, Quincey Jones, Micahel Jackson, Deodato, Chick Corea, Lonnie Liston Smith, Pérez Prado, Miles Davies…,🕺 Realmente son un estallido de colores lleno de ritmo y fantasia. Con un aire pop y fresco que me encanta.
Estas dos propuestas pueden parecer opuestas, una es intimista y la otra es netamente urbana. Pero a mi parecer complementarias, una suena a hierbabuena y la otra a un buen chocolate caliente. Cada una tiene su momento.

Interesting channel, with diverse content and it is very good that you have brought things that seem opposed although as you mention they have some relation.
I agree, the woman's voice is beautiful, it's like talking and singing at the same time and it's a privilege to have that kind of voice. In the second case, if it is something more urban, more that can be found in the street in everyday life, point in common being artists.

Coincido, la voz de la mujer, es preciosa, es como un hablar y cantar al mismo tiempo y privilegio quien tiene ese tipo de voz. En el segundo caso, si es algo mas urbano, mas que se puede encontrar en la calle en la vida cotidiana, punto en común ser artistas.

A pesar de yo ser una era mas recente, mis mejores habilidades no son las tecnologicas, se me da mejor la vieja escuela, cuando estudiaba ingenieria todo era por el camino viejo y asi tambien llegue a hacer lo que comentas de grabar en casette una cancion que me agradaba y la colocaron en la radio etc, era como ser un cazador de canciones jajajja 😂
Todos los días se aprende algo @promete0sz. Desconocía que el oficio de "cazador" de canciones había llegado a generaciones más jóvenes. Pensé que sólo era cosa del pasado, muy pasado. 🤣

Oh, the cassette, what memories those were, I begged my uncle to buy me some of my favorite artists of that time and I ended up ruining them because the tape got stuck, but I also listened to the radio, when I wanted to listen to a song I liked, I had to wait for them to broadcast it and many times that didn't happen haha the internet made that much easier, it was very difficult to listen again and again that song that blew your head off haha 😂

Me hiciste recordar cuando grababa de la radio al grabador para tener alguna canción o darle varias veces al grabador, detenerlo y copiar la letra; porque no es como ahora que lo buscas en internet y lo tienes todo. Maravilloso aporte sin duda alguna, pero también sus desventajas de la gente pegada a la red y lo escuchan ni ven lo que suena a su alrededor. Un abrazo.
Qué razón tienes Sacra. Qué puedo decir más. Lo que hemos ganado en comodidad e inmediatez, lo vamos perdiendo en aspectos importantes de la vida, y quizás los más importantes. Como lo has dicho ya todo, sólo me qeuda agradecerte la visita y el comentario.

I heard them on NPR Music Channel. I really liked Rita, the music and the lyrics. And from the guys I enjoyed the music and their stage projection.... And I laughed when I saw the name of the producer that presents them, Anamaría Artemisa hahaha... No me hagas caso es una tontería.
Anyway, el NPR Music Channel es genial, transmiten radio las 24 horas y están estos tiny desk concert.

Personally, I enjoyed Rita 😻 more than the young boys. Everything I loved about them, at the same time detracts from them. They remind me of so many things, I forgot to mention George Benson, that it's as if his proposal has been heard before.

Thank you for the visit my dear @mamani. I have no words for Rita Payés, the emotions she generates in me..., I didn't mention the trombone in the publication and I'm glad you noticed that detail. I love that instrument, and in the context of her performance I find, that its sound fits perfectly with the tone of the whole performance/interpretation. It is sublime. I don't know when I'll get back to music, I have three publications in my head that go other ways. Anyway, I hope to continue to get it right with the selections.

Si el progreso nos invadió, pero a un costo grande, ya que no quieren realizar sus trabajos por su esfuerzo,sino que lo haga la inteligencia artificial.
Como siempre,apuntas con mucha sensatez. En esta cuestión veo dos cosas que no me gustan. Una es la que dices, se está educando a las generaciones más jóvenes en conseguir "logros" sin esfuerzo. Y con IA o sin IA la vida los va a exigir que se esfuercen en algún momento. La segunda cuestión que no me gusta es la fe ciega en lo que las IA dicen o hacen. Chat Gpt sigue cometiendo muchos errores, en otros casos simplemente miente o omite información relevante.

Si en algún momento tendrá que pensar sin acudir a otro que le resuelva la vida,la inteligencia artificial puede en gran parte resolver una situación, pero abusar descaradamente es el caos mismo, me encanta tus análisis que nos invita a pensar y eso es lo que necesita la gente.
