Hi friends, normally I like to review my favorite youtube channels and that in a way have become an inspiration for me, however this time I would like to review my own youtube channel so you can know it and decide if you like it or not 😊, it's ok if you don't like it, I understand, since it's not a channel of challenges or funny things, Samira History is a channel where you will find everything about history, curiosities, art and literature, since all my life I loved those topics, although I like to talk about it in a dynamic way, to try to eradicate the stigma that history is boring, it doesn't have to be, in fact I realized it by watching channels like “Mr Ryden” or “Viajar en la histori” (Traveling in history) which are the channels I like the most. The idea of creating my own channel came precisely from my curiosity about these topics, but there were topics of which I found very little or almost no material, so true to my own criteria that if something does not exist or does not satisfy you you should create it yourself, I dedicated myself to research to make a video on my own.
Hola amigos, normalmente me gusta reseñar mis canales de youtube favoritos y que de cierta manera se han convertido en una inspiración para mi, sin embargo en esta ocasión me gustaría reseñar mi propio canal de youtube para que ustedes puedan conocerlo y decidir si les gusta o no 😊, no pasa nada si no les gusta, lo entiendo, ya que no es un canal de retos o cosas divertidas, Samira History es un canal en donde encontrarás todo sobre historia, curiosidades, arte y literatura, ya que desde toda la vida me encantaron esos temas, aunque me gusta hablar de ello en forma dinámica, para tratar de erradicar el estigma de que la historia es aburrida, no tiene porqué serlo, de hecho me di cuenta de ello al ver canales como "Mr Ryden" o "Viajar en la historia" que son los canales que más me gustan. La idea de crear mi propio canal vino precisamente de mi curiosidad sobre estos temas, pero había temas de los cuales yo encontraba muy poco o casi nada de material, así que fiel a mi propio criterio de que si algo no existe o no te satisface debes crearlo tu mismo, me dediqué a investigar para hacer un video por mi cuenta.
My first video obviously didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, since I was obviously just starting out. Oh friends, make yourselves comfortable and let me tell you how I used to record my first videos 😄. First of all I didn't have a cell phone, let alone a microphone at that time, so I used (and still use today) my sister's cell phone to record the voice over, but to try to make the sound as clean as possible I would wrap the phone with a stuffed cloth to try to reduce the outside sound or any other interference, the rest I did with an editor, to add the images and texts, but I still didn't show my face, I only made videos with voice over.
Mi primer video obviamente no quedó tan bien como me hubiese gustado, ya que evidentemente apenas estaba iniciando. ¡Ay amigos!, pónganse cómodos y permítanme contarles como era que yo grababa mis primeros videos 😄. En primer lugar yo no cuento con celular, y mucho menos tenía micófono en esa época, así que yo usaba (y aún hoy) el celular de mi hermana para grabar la voz en off, pero para tratar de hacer que el sonido estuviese lo más limpio posible yo envolvía el teléfono con una tela de peluche para tratar de reducir el sonido exterior o cualquier otra interferencia, el resto yo lo hacía con un editor, para añadir las imágenes y textos, pero yo aún no mostraba mi rostro, solamente hacía videos con voz en off.
The idea of appearing in the videos came after I opened my 3speak channel in which I made different videos, singing for the Hive Open Mic, the Vibes contest or just doing storytimes, then I thought, “Ok, I'll dare to show my face also on youtube”, but I only did it when I could already count with the necessary equipment, like a light ring and a lapel microphone, which increased a little more the quality of my videos, then I decided to make a series about the origin of Venezuelan words, because many people in my own country, although they use a lot of these words daily and that are part of their slang, did not know the origin, I knew many of them but I had to investigate a lot because I did not know the origin of all of them, for me it was a very fun video to make.
La idea de aparecer en los videos surgió luego de que yo abriera mi canal de 3speak en los cuales yo hacía videos diferentes, cantando para el Hive Open Mic, el concurso Vibes o simplemente haciendo storytimes, entonces pensé, "Ok, me atreveré a mostrar mi rostro también en youtube", pero solo lo hice cuando ya pude contar con el equipo necesario, como un aro de luz y un micrófono de solapa, lo cual incrementó un poco más la calidad de mis videos, entonces decidí hacer una serie sobre el origen de palabras Venezolanas, ya que muchas personas de mi propio país, aunque usan mucho estas palabras a diario y que forman parte de su argot, no conocían el origen, yo sí conocía muchas de ellas pero tuve que investigar bastante porque no sabía el origen de todas, para mi fue un video muy divertido de realizar.
Modesty aside, one of my favorite videos, since I really put a lot of effort in its production, was the one of Fortín Solano, a fortress that was built by the Spaniards in 1766 in a port city called Puerto Cabello, I did a lot of research to be able to give the correct information, my parents and my sister accompanied me but the car could not continue up the mountain, we ran the risk of damage, so my sister, my mom and I decided to continue on foot, and seeing that there were too many stairs, as we approached the castle, we decided to continue my sister and I, it was a very enriching and fun adventure, the castle was closed, but my sister did me the huge favor of sneaking through a wall to go down and helped me to take the shots I needed, she even took shots in a pit that at the time worked as a torture chamber 😨 and it was really something impressive because while I was editing the images we realized that we could hear breathing, it was something shocking for us, but the video turned out very well, thank God, the goal was achieved and although I ended up terribly tired that day after the climb up and down the mountain with the shoes in my hands, along with my notebook, it was worth the effort.
Modestia aparte uno de mis videos favoritos, ya que realmente puse mucho empeño en su producción, fue el del Fortín Solano, una fortaleza que fue construida por los españoles en 1766 en una ciudad portuaria llamada Puerto Cabello, investigué muchísimo para poder dar la información correcta, mis padres y mi hermana me acompañaron pero el carro no podía seguir subiendo la montaña, corríamos el riesgo de que se dañara, así que decidimos mi hermana, mi mamá y yo continuar a pie, y al ver que habían demasiadas escaleras, conforme nos acercábamos al castillo, decidimos continuar mi hermana y yo, fue una aventura muy enriquecedora y divertida, el castillo estaba cerrado, pero mi hermana me hizo el enorme favor de colarse a través de una pared bajar y me ayudó a hacer las tomas que yo necesitaba, incluso hizo tomas en una fosa que en su momento funcionó como cámara de torturas 😨 y de verdad que fue algo impresionante porque mientras yo editaba la imágenes nos dimos cuenta de que se oía una respiración, fue algo impactante para nosotras, pero el video quedó muy bien, gracias a Dios, se logró el objetivo y aunque terminé terriblemente cansada ese día tras la subida y bajada de la montaña con el calzado en las manos, junto con mi libro de notas, valió la pena el esfuerzo.
But as I said at the beginning of this post, my channel is not only about history videos, but about curiosities, everything I find interesting I investigate and produce it for the channel, for example here I leave you this video I made about a painting with an image that keeps a secret, it's like a kind of very interesting easter egg, I hope you like it.
Pero tal como les dije al inicio de este post, mi canal no solo trata sobre videos de historia, sino de curiosidades, todo lo que me parece interesante lo investigo y lo produzco para el canal, por ejemplo aquí les dejo este video que hice sobre una pintura con una imagen que guarda un secreto, es como una especie de easter egg muy interesante, espero que les guste.
Sometimes I like to take a little risk when it comes to videos, so for the literature section I once did a monologue about Amaranta Buendía, (a character from Cien Años de Soledad) which will allow the audience to know in a more graphic, dynamic and close way this character, I'm not sure if I will continue doing monologues of other characters, but I don't rule out the idea in the future.
A veces me gusta arriesgarme un poco en cuanto a los videos, así que para la sección de literatura una vez hice un monólogo sobre Amaranta Buendía, (un personaje de Cien Años de Soledad) lo cual permitirá a la audiencia conocer de una forma más gráfica, dinámica y cercana este personaje, aun no estoy segura si continuaré haciendo monólogos de otros personajes, pero no descaro la idea a futuro.
After three years of hard work I finally achieved the monetization of the channel and to date a total of 2,057 subscribers, but although anyone might think that this is enough to have a lot of income, let me get you out of the mistake, it is not so at all, in fact notice that in this month I only had an income of $ 5 and really is one of the highest I have received, and in fact, I have not yet been able to collect the first payment, because in order to withdraw money for the first time you must have accumulated $ 100 minimum. The amount of subscribers only matters to reach the monetization as such (you need at least a thousand) but what will really make you money are the views, and I really do not have many in most of my videos, only in a few, but I really see youtube as a hobby, not as a source of income, what matters to me is to transmit knowledge as I am also learning and growing, it is a very nice process that fills me emotionally and spiritually.
Luego de tres años de mucho trabajo finalmente logré la monetización del canal y hasta la fecha un total de 2.057 suscriptores, pero a pesar de que cualquier persona podría pensar que eso es suficiente para tener muchos ingresos, permítanme sacarlos del error, no es así en lo absoluto, de hecho fíjense que en este mes solo tuve un ingreso de 5$ y realmente es uno de los más altos que he recibido, y de hecho, aún no he podido cobrar el primer pago, ya que para poder retirar el dinero por primera vez debes tener acumulados 100 dólares mínimo. La cantidad de suscriptores solo importa para alcanzar la monetización como tal (necesitas al menos mil) pero lo que realmente te hará ganar dinero son las visualizaciones, y realmente no tengo muchas en la mayoría de mis videos, solo en unos cuantos, pero realmente yo veo a youtube como un pasatiempo, no como una fuente de ingresos, lo que me importa es poder transmitir conocimientos a medida que yo también voy aprendiendo y creciendo, es un proceso muy bonito que me llena emocional y espiritualmente.
Y bueno, básicamente eso es Samira History, un canal donde puedes aprender muchas cosas interesantes para tener buenos temas de conversación con tus amigos o familiares, pero también para aprender y conocer un poco más sobre el entorno que te rodea, el origen de palabras que quizá usas a diario, el porqué de las cosas. En cuanto al nombre artístico que decidí adoptar para el canal, es un nombre árabe que significa "alegría", y lo conocí cuando yo practicaba la danza del vientre y siempre creí que si llegaba a hacerlo de forma profesional, tomaría ese nombre como nombre artístico 😄. Espero que les haya gustado mi post y mi canal, no se sientan comprometidos a suscribirse, háganlo solo después de analizarlo y comprobar si realmente les gusta. What you say about the microphone and the borrowed cell phone are adventures that in time will be in the past and better things will come, I am also in the process of improving my technologies but it is a process in Venezuela haha but nothing that patience can not overcome, the important thing in the end I think is the power of the content creator, if there is not that even with all the technologies would not be able to get attention or get views etc. Of the videos you presented the most striking for me was the Canopic Vases because I am a fan of cultures and of course, the Egyptian one of the most famous can not miss haha
