Sometimes running the SGS Community Curation Account is easy and for the most part our Precious runs herself. Our established authors understand her quirks and are pretty cool to deal with when there are occasional issues...but sometimes it’s a bit trickier than I’d like it to be. At the moment I am having trouble with maintaining her Hive Power.

Our preference is always to Lease Hive Power from within our own Membership because the 13.5% APR that we offer is excellent and it’s good for SGS if our members benefit from that great value. However our members are a bit tapped out at the moment and so we do take leases from outside the membership with a minimum of 5K to reduce management overhead. Recently we’ve even gone back to DLease to try to source the extra Hive Power that we need.
DLease comes with some challenges such as managing Cash Flow and Liquidity to pre-pay for a longer term commitment. I mentioned recently that we have Precious Leases Expiring on DLease and I was hoping to shift those leases Off-Market, but I haven’t be able to do that. Then I was hoping to replace those leases with other Off-Market leases from within (and beyond) our membership...but I haven’t been able to do that either. Lastly I was going to just extend the Existing Leases on DLease Week-to-Week...but that hasn’t worked either because they’ve been having technical issues! What this means is that we have just dropped another 10K Hive Power today and if DLease can’t sort out the technical problems they’re having then we might drop a bit more in the coming weeks.
It kind of sucks to be honest because we do have some spare savings on the Community Account to sustain our elevated Hive Power but we can’t really source reliable and trustworthy leases at the moment. Bear with me while I try to sort it out and just please be advised that we may drop a bit more Hive Power until I can find a good solution. On the bright side, at least we are saving some funds in the interim!

Anything I can do to help? I might be able to fill the gap a bit assuming it won't be long term. How does that 13.5% APR get distributed? I've never leased HP before.

In my opinion, to cure the Hive Power situation which is somehow going down, you need to Stop putting the Profits into the Savings Account and turn them into Hive Power, never to be Powered Down again... The Hive Dollars should be enough to pay any weekly amounts owed to yourself and others...
I took a closer look... You need to do the 50/50 rewards, instead of everything going to Hive Power... This way you can use the Hive Dollars to buy Liquid Hive to pay any Bills... Any excess can be used to do a Power Up...
There is no 50/50 rewards for curation. You really should join the SGS discord and I'll be happy to explain to you how this project works.
How come I'm able to do the 50/50...??? Half goes to Power Up and Half goes to Hive Dollars... I don't understand... But you still don't need all that Hive tied up in the Savings Account... Just keep in mind, that the more Precious gives, the more Precious gets back... Screw the Savings Account...
The 50/50 is for the author rewards, NOT the curation rewards. If you have a read back through my recent posts I explain that the Savings were only being used short term to maintain some liquidity for cashflow management over the 1st quarter of 2024.
You should also know that the account is in perpetual Powerdown by design - according to the projects original charter - which states it will distribute wealth back to members and NOT accumulate wealth.
I took another look... So, a tiny amount of rewards goes to Hive Dollars and the rest goes to Hive Power... My question is where did that much Savings come from so fast...??? It's as if it's being Drained from somewhere, that I just don't understand... I am aware of Power Downs... So the excess must be going to the Savings instead of the Power Up... Okay, I see now...
We held a community fundraiser called the Monster Raffle back in September last year where we raised significant funds to pay for extra Hive Power leases over 6 months. I have been writing extensively about it. We hope to run another Monster Raffle again in March this year. Perhaps you will consider getting involved to support it this time.
