Been a while since I shared something with the group, but it has been a while since making a purchase as well. This particular coin was not necessarily on my shopping list until I read a recent post by @welshstacker.
Right before reading his post, I was looking at a 2016 Silver Eagle that was in MS69 condition. I told him it was ironic I had just bid on one and then read his post. In the end I was outbid. But I was not going to be defeated. As always, this one whowed up on a recommended list and I just decided to buy it out right instead of bidding on it.
The coin is 1 ounce and is .9999 pure silver. It weighs 31.1 grams and is 40.6mm in diameter.

The obverse was designed by Adolph Alexander Weinman. He also designed the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, along with the Mercury Dime. I think this is one of the most beautiful obverse designs of a coin we have had in circulation and love Walking Liberty Halves and the Silver Eagle because of it. Although I don't have any plans right now to purchase more Silver eagles in the future, I do have the urge to buy more Walking Liberty Halves.

The reverse was designed by John M. Mercanti. He has designed several modern coins and commemoratives. The reverse has a heraldic eagle with shield. It also has thirteen stars above the eagle representing the original thriteen states.
Although I have no plans to buy more right now, I would like to eventually pick up one minted at West Point as well.
If you have any further information about this coin you would like to add, like historical information I left out or want to correct any I may have gotten wrong, please drop it in the comments.
Thanks for reading,
Joe

Those things are awesome, love the S mint mark! Nice silver!
Thanks. Yeah, I don't think they had mint marks for them in 1986.
