Local Coin Shop Find 4-13-2022

in Silver Gold Stackers3 years ago

Two Silver Bars caught my eye, today, at the Local Coin Shop. This Johnson Matthey Assayers & Refiners, Silver Bar, is mine, now. LCS price was $305(USD). Johnson Matthey Assayers & Refiners, a fine company, was bought out by Asahi Holdings, of Japan, in 2015.

Asahi Refinery, now produces beautiful, similar bars. The Johnson Matthey Assayers & Refiners, Silver Bars are becoming popular, among Stackers & Collectors. Their popularity is making them harder & harder to find.

Most of the scratches and blemishes are on the protective sleeve. Oh yes, the second, interesting Bar, was this 100 Troy ounce, Northwest Territorial Mint Bar, at $3 per ounce, over spot, or about $2800(USD). Probably a good deal, but, out of my price range. Cool to look at, though.

This is not intended to be financial advice. This is all about a fun hobby, of collecting & stacking Silver Coins and such. Thanks again for checking it out, on #silvergoldstackers, where Stackers show & share their treasures thought & ideas.

Great find.

Thanks again for looking and commenting, @silverd510. The LCS has plenty of generic Silver rounds, but Eagles, Maples, Art Bars, etc... are drying up.

That’s what I’m hearing. Don’t have an LCS anymore haven’t in a decade. Wish I did….

JM Bullion have many designs. 10 oz is about right. 100 oz surely too big and hard to sell eventually. In my opinion I think the 5 oz silver bars are just perfect. But they are hard to come by !

Thanks again for looking & commenting, @olympicdragon. JM Bullion has decent weekly sale. Even the LCS, Dealer, advises, to go for ten ounce & smaller bars and avoid larger, even with their discount. APMEX has RCM Ten Ounce Bars, pre-sale, for $360(USD). Nice Bars, but ouch.

Beautiful logo of this silver bar, it's very precious and hard to find

It's considered joy moments when collecting silver bars , you feel that you find treasure rare between people

This is beautiful. The first time I have seen The United States Silver Corporation. It may be an older coin, but it shines through especially the boat. It's very unique !

What a great find!!!!

I love the look of this bar, and I love a party!
I will be posting a vintage silver bar of a Tall ship Sunday/tomorrow as well. Stack on @cve3

I have 5 vintage JM bars of different sizes as they seem more plentiful than Engelhards in my region. Commodity + Collectable value.

Thanks again for looking, Kerris L Ravenhill - @kerrislravenhill. Have you ever checked this website? https://allengelhard.com/definitive-pages/engelhard-rounds/# There is a section with many other Refiners and the Bars, information, including Johnson Matthey.

I am familiar with that site.
It's where I found out that the mintage of this JM Bar was...

under 250 bars.

Thanks for showing & sharing, Kerris L Ravenhill -@kerrislravenhill, another focus on stacking! I'm changing my approach to rare Art Bars. Old Defunct companies that kept good records, becoming discovered, authenticating mintage numbers, to prove rarity, of the treasure. Silver Bars may be the next sleepers, in collecting rare Art Bars.

American coins have unique value, I appreciate boat shinning design around bar !
