2024 Liondollar - Leeuwendaalder

in Silver Gold Stackers8 months ago (edited)

Hi Stackers

Each year when it comes on the market I show the new Liondollar - (Leeuwendaalder) here on Hive.

In 2024 this restrike of the famous tradecoin of which the dollar got its name (daalder in New Amsterdam became dollar) images the version of the old trade city Deventer (Davent in Latin on the coin).

Yes we had six provinces strike this coin and one city. Provinces were like Zeeland, Utrecht, Holland and Gelre etc.

The coin design uses a digitally remastering technique that compares the best preserved coins there are to come close to the original strike.
The coin was struck from 1575 onwards to support the Dutch maritime trade.

As always there is a 1 and a 2 ounce proof version in silver and gold. Prices are high and mintage low. Packaging is always surprising see below.
210 EUR for the 250 1 OZ silver coins and 3000 EUR for the gold ones....not this year as I am selling not buying....untill tempted again....

The pics are from the Royal Dutch Mint but taken of the email sent to me.

Enjoy

Low mintage, high price, no surprise.
I like "historical restrikes."
I'll see by how much when this might appear on my retailer's website.

A little rich for my blood this year, but very cool! I would love to have one in gold!

The Liondollar is stunning so detailed my friend, and very unique packaging!👍😊
Beautiful but a bit pricey my friend 🙄
