Back One Half Oz Red Back Spider 2013 Silver Coin.jpg

This is a 2013 half oz red back spider made from 999 silver in the uncoloured version and looks nice its part of a dangerous animals of Australia series which included funnel web spider, red back spider, stone fish, taipan snake, shark and crocodile all came in a coloured version and uncoloured version and ranged in size from 1/10th oz to 1 oz. The coloured version of the red back spider is a beautiful coin but sadly they sold out so quick as did most of the coloured versions and I was unable to get one, the uncoloured versions are nice to but I am still looking to acquire the coloured version. These were minted in a private mint in South Australia so mintage numbers were not given these were sold at spot plus four dollars Australian costing me nineteen dollars the price on these is pinned to the silver value because the numismatic collectors only want the coloured versions. The red back spider is a cousin of the black widow family of spiders it is very dangerous for children and the elderly the venom can cause them extreme pain and or death, for adults its venom will cause stomach pains and feelings of vertigo as well as a headache and some experience vision issues as well I have been bit by these spiders from time to time as my old job had me climbing through roof spaces just where they love to live.
