In England we are on lock down so I decided to use some scrap to cast a silver pendant.
I used my casting flask filled with Petra bond to make an impression casting, I only made an impression of one side as I wanted the back to be flat.
I heated up my silver and poured into the flask and prayed to the gods of casting it would turn out nice and on first impression it looked good.
As I am making a pendant I also need to make a jump ring which I use my wire casting jig for.
As you can see the brick has some flashing which needs filing off.
Was quite happy with the small amount of filing so off to drill a hole to hang it from. I used a pillar drill with a 1.5mm drill bit.
The next step was to make a jump ring, the ones from the wire jig where still to thick so I used my rolling mill to stretch it out.
As you can see it fits but it is too long.
I used a pair of half round pliers to bend the silver wire round and chopped off the rest for another project.
Next step was silver soldering the jump ring but for some reason I didn't take any pics.
I next pickled the silver in sodium bisulphate which removes fire scale leaving a nice clean surface
The last step is to tumble the silver in stainless steel shot for 45 mins as polishing between the dots is almost impossible.
