I picked up this 1oz Silver Round remake from SilverTowne Mint - based on the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle twenty dollar gold coin from the US Mint, minted from 1907 to 1933. A classic design from Saint-Gaudens, featuring the Lady Liberty.
Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
The original Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle mostly gold coin was minted by the United States Mint from 1907-1933. In 1904, President Theodore Roosevelt asked the artist Saint-Gaudens to design the Double Eagle gold coin. It was made with 90% gold / 10% copper, weighed .96750 Troy ounces, and had a face value of $20 USD. The current cost of gold per ounce is $1,978 USD - as a collectors coin, an original gold Double Eagle coin sold in 2002 for $7,590,020 USD (Source).
Original vs. Remake
Original Coin (Source)
The Lady Liberty Side of the silver remake is very similar to the original, but the original has the minted year at the bottom right of the coin, and the original features the White House at the bottom left. As you can see, the Eagle Side is very different from the original - the eagle is flying to the left, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TWENTY DOLLARS" is along the top curve of the coin, and the sun can be seen at the bottom with "IN GOD WE TRUST". The 1907 original Double Eagle does not have "IN GOD WE TRUST" at the bottom, congress was outraged, it was added for the 1908-1933 coins.
Saint-Gaudens 1oz Silver Remake
The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle remake from SilverTowne Mint is a 1oz .999 fine silver round, featuring the Saint-Gaudens designed Lady Liberty front (Source).
Liberty Side
The Liberty Side of the coin features the Saint-Gaudens Lady Liberty design, she's walking forward to the edge of a cliff and out of the sunlight rays. She has an olive branch in one hand, a torch in the other - stars are along the outside curve of the coin, representing the states.
Eagle Side
The eagle side features an eagle perched onto and clutching an olive branch with it's talons, facing to the left. Along to top curve is the text "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER", at the bottom is the SilverTowne text and logo.
This Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is another classic remake from SilverTowne Mint - another fine silver round for the stack.
These coins may not be at level of the original but I like the ideal of commemorating past coins that are iconic and historically significant. A nice option rather than trying to get the originals.
History (Retold) in your hands.
This one would be an expensive original for sure, the remakes can sometimes be a little larger with easier to see details I find. Not quite the original, but a nice piece of silver with a backstory :)
Okay, another added to possible shopping list. I tend to agree with you and @thebighigg about the eagle on the reverse, I like the SilverTowne version better.
This eagle seems slightly more ferocious and fills out the coin a little more.. no sun rays, but that's on the front anyways :)
Yes, much more bold for sure.
Nice pickups looking mighty shiny
Thanks - they've got a nice clank to them too :)

Would you believe me, if I told you that your Silver Round will get you $9 in Silver and Common U.S. Coinage, with the Spending Power of 900 of Today's Fiat USD's...???
The silver remake is a great design. Excellent for collecting !
I got a tube of these rounds but I really hope I can get one original to add to the collection
Such pretty coins! I love the Saint-Gaudens design. Thanks for sharing!
Lady Liberty is a timeless design, I'll admit I prefer the eagle side on this SilverTowne remake :)
They did a fine job on that eagle!
