Thursday Mailbox Haul and My Growing Stack

Good morning stackers! Happy Thursday, and happy holiday season. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, and I'm looking forward to it.

I went to the mailbox this morning and was pleasantly surprised at what I received. I got my silver 1-gram coin from eBay and my 1980 proof nickel. I added these to my growing stack.

I used to have an enviable position in silver and gold, and sold it in 2016 to cover some debts. I had tubes of Eagles and Maple Leaves, and had a safe filled with 1/10th ounce gold coins. I have been rebuilding my stack for the past month, and this is where I am now.

Gold is up to $2,667 today with news of global instability in the war in Ukraine representing a gain of $15.50. I have been keeping an eye on gold and am excited to see more upside. Global markets are finding their legs and consumer weakness could trigger more gains in the previous metals market.

Historically the Roman Denarus is 1/10 oz of silver represented a day's wages working a 12 hour day as a farmer or a soldiers daily pay. There were other times and eras where that was a typical days pay.

True. The average wage on earth in 2024 is $21 per day, which is amazing as well. They took the silver out of the denarius, which debased their currency and led to the fall of Rome.
