Some of you may know that I collect 1888 coins.
Why 1888? To make a long story short, it contains the number triple eights, which is my lucky number.
As I am not a collector of coins, I only purchase coins to be added to thus collection if the price is right (and only if I have the extra cash to spare). It is not a priority.
The latest coin was purchase sometime last year.
1888 Mexico Silver 8 Reales Cap & Rays Coin
The inscription on the reverse of the coin, Mo 1888 M.H., indicates the Mexico City Mint (MH) assayer.
The obverse of the coin is an eagle with the snake perch on top of a cactus.
The coin is 27.07grams of .903 fine silver.
I really want the 1888 Seated Liberty Quarter and 1888 Seated Liberty Half. After acquiring those, I think I will stop. But the halves are beyond my means... ARRGH! So I guess getting the quarter coin will suffice!

I understand Sis, Auction prices have gone ballistic over the last two years and It has gotten tougher to get our hands on the coins we want. I hope you can get those 1888 halves with a bit of 888 luck.
I had an 1887 8 Reales offered to me, it was so close as I would have preferred an 1888. I've passively kept my eye out for 1888. Say, didn't you get the 1888 Canadian Large penny from MikeGPO as I recall?

The 1888 US half a dollar is a key date, and out of my reach. I will not pursue the coin. However, I have hopes for the 1888 US quarter. It is a matter of pricing only, and as spot prices go down, perhaps I have a chance!

A nice looking coin; besides the '888' number thing you have going, I can see the attraction for this coin. It looks old, and I tend to like things that look that way. That's not to say that a modern looking coin is out by any means. It's just that thinking about if they could only talk about where they've been and what they've seen! Thanks for sharing sis!🌸💕😘🤗

As a kid collecting coins @silversaver888 I was always amazed that coins dated 1888 or so were still obtainable! Just think about the history of these coins, where they have been who might've held them, very interesting! 😀
