Every country has crossed apart different stages of denomination and mostly from coins denomination to Note, even as the world is seeking to transform into digital currencies with the evolution of #cryptocurrency technology such as #BTC and the rest of the digital technologies.

I was on search in the house for some missing items, as I came across this historical small phone battery packs box.

Here comes:
One penny of British west Africa
One penny of Federation of Nigeria
100 France
One penny Elizabeth ll DG
One Naira
One kobo
10 kobo
50 kobo.

I picked up the box and it was a good historical note and coins inside the box. I discovered different denomination of old #Nigerian coins and a 50 naira note at the top of the cover.

Now here is a brief history of the Nigerian coins and currency, which is track back during the pre-colonial era, it is also important to Note that different cultures in the world are tracked to have different measures and means of exchange then.
The Nigeria major currency can be traced to 1880 when the 1st issued means of exchange occurs through the colony in the country. This major currency includes the shillings and pence as the legal tender currency as used in British west Africa.

The coin was in existence from 1880 to 1912, when the west African currency Board issued the first ever set of bank Notes and coins in countries like
Nigeria,
Ghana,
Sierra Leone
And Gambia.
According to history the history coin was the shillings coins and one pound was the highest banknote denomination as at 1912 to 1959.

On 1st July 1959, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued Nigerian currency banknotes, while the WACB-issued banknotes and coins were withdrawn. It was not until 1st July 1962, that the currency was changed to reflect the country’s republican status. The inscription, ‘FEDERATION OF NIGERIA’, at the top of the banknotes was changed to, ‘FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA’. The notes were again changed in 1968 following the misuse of the currency banknotes during the civil war.
