RE: A Beautiful Old Silver Coin from Peru

Nice coin and nice story @thebighigg ! !BBH

I will add for those interested and wanting to know - I have been living here in Peru for the last 30 years and I find it safe and enjoyable. Lima is a city with 10 million people so you are going to want to stay away from the high crime areas just like you would in any major metropolis in the rest of the world. But like @thebighigg mentioned - the folks here are really very nice pretty much where ever you wander.

The food is always stellar no matter where you are eating! Lima is full of world-class restaurants and the cevicherias are second to none. You just got to taste that.

If you travel to the provinces you'll be equally amazed with the freshness, variety and overall great tasting food you can find. And if you get up into the Andes we've only got like 4,000 different varieties of papas to sample.

And then for those so inclined there are wonderful libations made from pisco like the emblematic pisco sour or a chilcano (pisco, ginger ale, limon) that are refreshingly tasty if you are into that.

There are times when it is not so easy to travel in the mountains and jungle like during rainy season (November through about April) but it is always beach season up on the northwest coast (Mancora, Punta Sal) and there's a whole heap of other archaeology to check out in addition to Macchu Picchu.

Also there's great trips to be had if you are looking for Ayahuasca retreats or just wandering around the Amazon jungle on the boat tours out of Iquitos and Pucallpa.

Worthwhile places to visit and memories to make!

It's a great place, I always enjoyed visiting when I lived in South America. Great food, nice people and it was always a real safe place if you used your head and avoided bad neighborhoods. But the same can be said of New York City or Los Angeles!

The Amazon is a cool place to visit, but not too stay. Way too many mosquitos and biting bugs! lol
