[ENG-ESP]Coins of the Sea: A Journey Through the Islands/Monedas del Mar: Un Viaje a Través de las Islas

Hello friends of the Hive community, first, I want you to know that islands are portions of land completely surrounded by water. They can vary in size, from tiny islands barely perched on the surface of the sea to large landmasses like Greenland. Islands can be of volcanic origin, formed by the accumulation of sediment, or be part of a reef system. Furthermore, they can be inhabited or uninhabited, and often have unique ecosystems.

Island currencies are those used on islands or island territories. Often, these currencies can be different from the currency of the country to which they belong, especially if the island has a special political status or a distinct economy.

For example, some islands have their own currency, while others use the currency of the nearest country or a colonial power. There are also cases in which islands issue coins with unique designs that reflect their culture and heritage.

Coins from islands in my country, and perhaps in many others, are difficult to find, either due to their low mintage, or because they don't circulate, or because they are places where there isn't a large influx of people traveling to the mainland.

This type of theme is very interesting in a collection because it's extremely difficult to own one from each island where they were issued. Also, due to their scarcity, they sometimes tend to be expensive and have a high monetary value.

In my case, I live on the Isle of Youth, an island that belongs to Cuba—that is, I live on an island within an island—which is why it's much more difficult for me to acquire this collection. But the true magic of a collector is being able to take on great challenges and feel proud of their achievements.

I would like to share some coins from my collection that I've gradually acquired. Greetings to everyone from my island.

Quite a wide variety of Island from all over the world. The subject of coin collecting is as wide and numerous as the subjects they feature and celebrate. If you are interested, I know a Hivian Captain who features various islands of all over the world every week.

It's a really broad and interesting topic, since I was born on an island of 84,000 inhabitants, which is why I chose this topic in numismatics. Greetings and thank you very much.

Nice coins! Great background on them too. Great to learn about world coins and see some photos of them.

Hello friend, thank you very much for appreciating the coins and the variety. I will continue posting about this topic, linking it to the coins in my collection. Best regards, and I hope you continue to enjoy my posts.
