This cactus was growing in a pot on my back balcony. The sharp orange coloured spines contradt nicely with the green of the cactus and background.

Thank you for these amazing pictures again @philpotg, would these be like the Mexican cactuses that they use to replace leather for clothing, bags and accessories? When zooming in on your pictures we can see a similar "look" to cows or other animals' leathers.
If you can get past the spikes, the flesh is quite soft
Attracting by its soft texture and sweet smell possibly.
