I Passed My Technician Exam!

in Ham Radio3 years ago

Pretty stoked to have finally passed this exam. My grandfather was a ham (N6WPG) and I studied for my technician exam in 1992 but couldn't take the test due to the morse code requirement. Last year I got my little tri band mobile setup and got back to studying after a 30 year break, I was surprised to find that I remembered a LOT of the questions. I breezed through the exam today and with my certificate in its frame on the wall I await the FCC to give me my call sign.
One of those "list" items checked off. Now to study for my general class license so I can test on the next offering.

Thank you. Lol! That's why it took my 30 years to get my license, I couldn't do morse. I had to go look up a chart to decode that...

Congratulations!

Now I can simultaneously listen to the hubs grumble to himself while using his study app and read about your adventures in getting ready while you both study for the General, lol lol!

Good Luck!

Thank you. I've got a lot of studying to do for sure, I'm missing half the questions on practice exams right now but I did just start reading the general. I wanted to keep my head clear for the technician and not muddy it with the new info. I can't wait to get my temp callsign!

The exam session was totally packed so they will probably put on another next month.

Congrats, Welcome to the Ham Radio community. I got my license Dec 2019. VE3YRG. In Canada we only have two primary classes of license Basic and Advanced. I received greater than 80% so I received a Basic with Honors which gives me similar abilities as a US General class. I have also created Ham Radio Community on Hive where I occasionally post thinks happening in my Ham Radio life.

I remember your posts and part of what spurred me to give it a go again. I've already started studying for my general and I am getting half the questions right as of now. My goal is to test next cycle so we'll see. I'm anxious to get my callsign so I can actually start transmitting. I've got my actual callsign already picked out and will be filing for it as soon as I see my temp show up.

Congrats on the certification.

Thanks, I'm super excited to finally get to transmit.

Congratulations 💎

@flemingfarm Congrats on getting your Technician license! 73 DE KD9TCG.

Absolutely congratulations and that is definitely an accomplishment!!! Yes!!!!

Actually that is a big skill on my list that I really need to pick up before the end of the world.

Thanks. It's not too hard for the technician class, the apps and the sites make it pretty easy to drill the questions/answers. You would do well to get yours soon.

Absolutely however I've got so much on my plate right now.
I really need to do the part 107 so I can fly my drone commercially and that is one of the most boring tests I have ever seen so it's probably going to take me awhile to deal with that one but you never know.

I was looking at the 107 cert but didn't feel the need to with my shitty little drone. I got something nice then I wouild probably look at it more seriously.

Yeah actually my mavic to zoom really hasn't gotten the use that I really thought it would mainly because of the $150 price tag to by the car charger and as well batteries start to swell prematurely and wear out at another $150 or so.

Too bad I can't manufacture a USA drone...

Small post, big news. Huzzah!

I wasn't even going to post but @stryeyz made me.... Super stoked though!

Tell her to post once in a while, too!
