Would you buy clothes that you knew were stolen?
I mean, not really stolen.
There used to be a clothing store that had the name “Stolen from Ivor” in the UK.
The above photo, "Stolen from Ivor", was originally published on Flickr by Neil Turner and is reused here under the terms and conditions of the Attribution-Sharealike 2.0 Generic (CC BY-SA) Creative Commons license.
In fact, the popularity of the “Stolen from Ivor” brand had grown so much that the company operated multiple stores in many places in the UK.
I visited such a store when I lived in Nottingham.
It was located on the ground floor of the now-demolished Broadmarsh Centre.
I used to buy jeans, jumpers, and jackets there.
The prices were very good as was the quality of clothing sold.
The clientele of the store were teenagers and young consumers who liked wearing jeans and sports clothing, without looking overly sportive, like wearing Nike, for example.
Their prices were unbeatable, until supermarkets and large stores like Primark started selling similar items at cheaper prices.
I remember one time, when I went to the “Stolen from Ivor” store in Nottingham to buy a raincoat that was also warm to wear in the winter.
I saw a jacket that I liked, and before buying it, I asked the sales assistant if it was waterproof.
He said that it was waterproof, and I could even soak it in water, but no water would get in!
