D'Angon Waterfall Hike, France

in Outdoors and more2 years ago (edited)

When we were on our way to the Alps of France, we didn't plan to do much sightseeing but we had a lot of time until we were able to check into our accommodation so we needed to kill time somehow. My friend found some random waterfall on a map and we decided to go and check it out.

The name is D'Angon Waterfall and it is located on the northern side of Lake Annecy in eastern France. It required a bit of a hike to reach it. Not much, I think it was 2 kilometers at the most from the parking lot.
Here are some views from the trail.

The trail was really cool actually. Walked inside the huge cracks of the cliff. I'm not entirely sure if they have cut out the space or if it's natural. Inside the cliffs, there are many of these spaces that occur naturally but maybe they have made this one larger where the trail goes. Just need to be careful not to hit your head.

I had not seen any pictures of this waterfall previously and I was quite amazed when I arrived. Didnt think I see something like this. The waterfall was pretty high and fell down on the side of the cliff into the abyss below.

A canyon that water has carved over a long period of time.

This is a panorama of 2 horizontal shots. The waterfall was big enough to not fit in one frame.

Layers of rock.

There are also some other waterfalls. This is one of them.

It was time to start going back. The trail mostly goes upwards and it was a really sweaty walk because I was wearing a jacket for some reason. The trail near the waterfall is very muddy and slippery too if it has been raining recently and rocky in places.

Overall it was really cool waterfall and I'm glad we got to see it while on our way to the Alps.
@leaky20 I see from the map that you have also visited this place, pretty cool!

Yes I was there a few years ago. It's a beautiful spot and nice hike. 👌

Wow, we just missed each other there. I was in the same area 9 days ago.

Wow, quite a coincidence! 😀

it's a very beautiful place, it's good that you enjoyed your time off and found this wonderful place. everything looks amazing and well taken care of.

Yep. I am sure glad that I didn't miss this place on the way.

Wow! This place looks amazing, and seeing the trail from that vantage point is interesting. I would love to spend a weekend exploring there. I've only seen the Alps from aeroplane so it would be special if I do:)

It's awesome seeing the Alps in person from the ground. For me, it was the second time, I have also seen the southern Germany Alps. Some snowy photos from the Alps coming soon.

I bet it is:)

Ok, sounds good to me 😁

Love those paths dug inside the stone wall. We have some in my country too, but they are not looking as impresive as these you surprised. Nature is so amazing that is hard to have just one destination because you will end up discovering lots of other cool things on the way too. ❤️

It was really cool to walk these paths. I wish I had more time to explore this area of France a bit more. DO some trails and stuff but had to do 4 days of skiing. The views up in the snowy alps were incredible tho.

A beautiful place but very dangerous. The waterfall is tall and long. Thanks for your sharing

The area is quite well fenced. If you are not climbing it and intentionally have a death wish than its not that dangerous 😀

Misasi see on ? 😀

käid vajutad omale nii palju kui printida oskad, coine ja siis põletad need coinid ära, et boonuseid saada juurde printimiseks. 20 swap.hive maksab raha, et alustada. Saad teiste printereid rünnata ja lootida.

No vaatan yle, aga I wonder miks see coin midagi väärt peaks olema 😀
