Hello, fellow hivers! It is good to be back.
There is always that one camp where you literally have no memories whatsoever about what happened the other night. You just got totally blacked out because of the mix of liquor you had that night, Haha.
This happened when my other group of outdoor friends, together with @iamcjestrada, decided to camp at Bacalla Woods Campsite, a camping site in San Fernando, Cebu.
This campsite was a trending place before because of its swing. Haha. We decided to check the place out and have camping there. We met up at Cebu South Bus terminal and hopped on a bus that would pass through San Fernando.
We got dropped off at a street a few meters from Pitalo Church. From there, we hailed a motorcycle taxi by pairs going to the campsite. The campsite is around 5 kilometers from the main road, so it was a quick ride.
We arrived there super early, so we were able to chill around its forest where we were going to stay. In Bacalla, there are options on how you are going to sleep there. If you have a hammock, there are also trees that could support hammocks, which some of my friends did.
The ground there is not really suitable for tents as it is a little bit rocky and a little bit slope-y. But since we didn't have hammocks at that time, my tent would do.
We were the only group there that day, so we occupied the whole outdoor place. We even had our socials on the wooden skating ramp. Haha.
Nighttime came, and we prepared our dinner. Every time we had dinner in camping, it was always like a feast. We always prepared 3 to 4 dishes so you'll never starve. Other people always assume that we always had canned goods or other ready-to-eat food while camping, but there may be some truth to that, especially when we first started camping. Eventually, as you grow camping, you will also learn how to cook some home-cooked meals in the wild.
After dinner, we started doing drinking rounds. @iamcjestrada and I introduced some camping drinking games to them, which they enjoyed a lot, and which also caused most of us to get drunk. We had Emperador Light, which is a type of brandy. To be honest, I don't really like the taste of it. Haha. The smell of it makes me want to puke, and drinking 5 shots or more makes my world spin already. Haha.
We took a couple of group pictures that night, which you can see, we are all smiling from ear to ear. Haha.
Even drunk, I am still as awkward as ever. Haha.
Morning came, and we had breakfast. The fees we paid at the camping site also included breakfast. The breakfast was prepared by the caretaker, and we had breakfast inside the small cabin.
After breakfast, we had the chance to try their swing. While we were lining up to try the swing, when it was Lorie's turn, the swing broke. Haha. Good thing she was safe though. The caretaker immediately fixed the swing.
I think I had too much to drink that night before, that I could not remember some of the happenings. I swore that day that I would never drink again, Haha, but it was just a lie.
We learned that there is a nearby waterfall just a few kilometers away. We secured a guide that would take us there and made our way to the falls. The hike took around an hour one way.
We arrived at the falls, and there were some locals swimming there.
We arrived from the top of the falls, and we slowly descended on its slippery rocks.
The cold water was the perfect hangover cure. We then enjoyed ourselves there until our hearts' content.
Going back to the camping site, we took a different route which did not require us to climb back to the top of the falls.
Back at the campsite, we packed up our tents and hailed a motorcycle taxi going to the main road.
It's been years since the last time I was with this group; they stopped hiking already and had their own families. Hopefully, I still get the chance to see them someday if given the opportunity. Until my next adventure!
