Hello Hive friends, I hope you are all well, and that you are having a good week.
Sometimes on the weekends I would grab my backpack, pack some water, some snacks and go up the mountain, tell a friend and we would go for an adventure. The way was really simple because I lived very close, I lived next to the mountain. I just had to go out the back gate of the land and I would find my way up. To tell the truth, in Chile, and specifically in Olmué, there are many mountains for trekking, so any mountain you see will be ideal for this sport.
The weekend arrived, my friend and I started to go into the mountain with my furry friend, who was happier than a person winning the lottery, and we started to climb. The goal was to reach the top of the mountain but for reasons that I will tell you later, we could not accomplish it. The beginning of the trail is quite easy, you go through paths with very little slope, as you go around the mountain, up to that point, we were doing very well. Then we had a dilemma: we either went up the steepest side, practically going straight uphill, or we went around the mountain. Both decisions had their good and bad sides. We didn't feel like spending 3 hours walking the mountain because the sun was extremely strong, and climbing the mountain straight uphill was very risky and tiring. In the end we decided on the latter option in order to supposedly "get to the top of the mountain faster", we started climbing and as expected, 20 minutes later, we were already worth less than rag 🤣.
After resting for about 10 minutes, we obviously thought better of it and said we'd better go the long way but less steep. So we did and suddenly we were coming to a part of the mountain where we could see a house and we heard some shots (or so it seemed), and a person came out of the house. We were far away so we didn't know and I really don't think he saw us, because we were tucked behind a lot of bushes and trees. When we heard those sounds we hid more and we grabbed the dog so she wouldn't move. We did not think that they were bad people, at that moment we thought that what they were doing was perhaps to keep away the animals that were approaching the house since it did not have fences or anything. The truth is that we were afraid to think that this person was shooting and could hurt any of us or the dog. So we went cautiously back but as fast as we could and well, as expected, our trip ended there.
I hope you were a little entertained with this crazy story that wasn't really the adventure I was expecting.
