Hello Everyone
Greetings from me, a new player on the HIVE platform. And this is my first post in this Community. I am also an environmental activist, have a hobby of climbing, outdoor adventure and also studying photography. I think this community is the right place for me to show all my outdoor activities and of course more. I hope all of you will welcome me to this community.
In my first post here, I will share about my activities yesterday outdoors, of course it's about part of me as an environmental and forestry activist.
Yesterday is August 12, 2022, and it coincides with World Elephant Day. I and a number of other activists who are included in environmental and forestry activists, also participated in several other institutions as well as the City Government. We made a celebration in commemoration of world elephant day.
Making camp activities and planting plant species that elephants don't like at one of the Conservation Response Unit post locations in the city district. The location is in a protected forest and directly adjacent to wildlife habitats, one of which is an elephant. We have several agendas, the first is the opening of the activities that will be carried out, which were conveyed by several related parties.
After the opening ceremony related to commemorating elephant day is ready, then we have an agenda of planting trees in locations directly adjacent to protected forest areas and wildlife habitats.
There are frequent conflicts between wildlife and humans, one of which is elephants. Makes us and various parties have to think faster to overcome these problems. Wild elephants descend on community plantations and destroy agricultural and plantation crops. But it's not that it happened not without a reason. Most of the wildlife habitat, namely the forest where these large animals live and forage have been destroyed by most irresponsible people. This of course makes these large animals homeless and lack of food, because of that migration occurs and these large animals descend to settlements and plantation areas to find food and shelter.
We plant tree species that elephants don't like, such as lime trees and other natural woody plants along wildlife habitat borders.
Not only planting trees, we also do socialization to the community, especially those who are planters, to change plant types and plant plantation crops that elephants don't like. This is intended to minimize losses that will be experienced by planters and farmers.
And we still have a lot of outdoor agenda that day. After we finished planting trees in the animal habitat area, then we had an agenda to introduce this big animal to everyone present, also through online media which was immediately covered by various online media journalists.
Here we introduce this large animal to people more closely. invites anyone to understand about elephants, that in fact elephants are animals that must be protected. invites everyone not to see it from the side of the bully.
This is a Sumatran elephant. Where unesco has determined, the Sumatran elephant is one of the special elephants of the four special elephants found around the world, and the Sumatran elephant is one of the largest animals found on the island of Sumatra which is also threatened
with extinction due to habitat loss and poaching.
Indonesia and at the far end is the island of Sumatra, where these elephants live and are now seriously endangered. Therefore, we and all parties must work harder to protect this unique animal so that it can survive and will not just be a story in the next few decades.
Today is a full day, everyone here is doing various activities in commemoration of world elephant day.
And tomorrow we will continue by planting again in several locations, and there are millions of trees that we will plant in various locations bordering animal habitat areas.
And the night will soon come for today. we had to pitch the tents for the inn tonight. This is something I love the most, sleeping in a tent at night in a forest area. It's a pleasure
We prepared dozens of tents for lodging, because there are many environmental and forestry activists who will stay here tonight. And tomorrow we will resume planting various types of trees in various border areas of wildlife habitat. Sumatran elephants are the wealth we have today.
That's our outdoor activity today. This is a part of me, someone who likes outdoor adventure, animal lover, environmental and forestry activist
Thank you all for your free time for stopping here. And of course I will share more outdoor activities in the future. Greetings and see you later...
