MY rifle story

in Outdoors and more4 years ago (edited)

Hey guys and gals so I figured since I am new to this wonderful community I should share my gun story so you people can get to know who I am. I will start with a picture.

These are my guns. they were passsed down to me by my grandfather. My grandfather has basically been my father figure most my life growing up since my biological father was a POS. These guns have filled the freezer for many decades. I will start with the 22lr. Its a COOEY MODEL 60. Bolt action and holds 11 rounds in the tube magazine. My grandpa has had this gun since he was 12 and he is now 81. My grandpa at the time was the only one in the family that hunted and would go out grouse hunting to fill the walls of the food shed for the long Quebec winters. This gun is still extremely reliable and accurate as this is an early enough model to still be made in Canada. I made a leather sling for it this year without drilling any holes. I couldn't take a drill to that stock anyways.
The pump rifle is a Remington 7600 Rangemaster 30-06. He's had this since the mid 80s. It's taken down many whitetails and moose. It's a comfortable and fun shooting gun that really packs a kick. Last year I fitted it with a Nikon Monarch 3 and damn what a game changer. I still don't have the most experience with the higher caliber rifle. I hunted with the 22 in my teens. then I didn't take up hunting again until 2 years ago, when I moved back to the prairies and actually had people to hunt with. So that my guns story hope you enjoyed and happy to part of this community!

Yep, I couldn't agree more. Most people are clueless, buy into societies' nutbaggery. Best to keep it basic and simple. ✅

That's a nice classic old 22LR. :-)

Love it! It's one gun that's staying in the family. Good old reliable gun!
