I've tried all these things. I read that if I can't get it out, my body will encapsulate it and then it will be permanent. HAHA! š
Wood will fester, metal might stay. I drove a splinter through my finger once when it was cold, didn't feel it. Saw it when I came in, dig down and pulled it while the finger was still cold. Longest splinter I've ever pulled, but not the biggest...sadly.
Soaking it in warm water will help on my the digging by softening the region. The icing helps, as I learned the hard way!
I'm pulling for you!

HAH! I soaked it again tonight, and used a sharp knife to open the skin some. I can't even see the splinter, I can just feel it. This was really long as well and I pulled part of it out but it broke off. I think I might try the onion in a sock next.
Hi just don't use comfrey on it, it will skin over....
Wish you were local, I'd get it out for you!

I have given up and I suppose that I am learning to live with it. It is so far down inside there I fear it will never come out. I though perhaps I could try the vacuum cleaner.
It will fester and come out. Wood is too foreign to be ignored. If it begins to swell, or get red radiating from the wound, you need to get real help!
I wish I could help more, but distance conquers all....

Yes, don't worry, if it starts to look bad I will go to the hospital. There is no cost for medical care here so I don't have to worry about anything in that regard. I just wish that it would hurry up and get out of my body.
