Hello to all!
A few days ago, I went on a multi-day ski tour with some friends in Salzburg's Pinzgau region. We had the best weather you could imagine. Deep blue skies, bright sunshine and a good 30 centimetres of fresh snow, which the day before had enchanted the fantastic landscape.
This season's winter leaves something to be desired for winter sports enthusiasts. There was very little precipitation and it was often much too warm, so there is very little snow in Austria's Alps. So we were all the happier when we found the freshly snow-covered landscape. The fun was not long in coming and we climbed several peaks over the next two days and drew our perfect deep-snow lines in the fresh powder snow. Ski touring has become very popular in recent years, which is why you often have to share the fresh slopes with lots of other winter sports enthusiasts. However, we were in a very remote area, which is why we had the entire outdoor arena to ourselves.
The highest mountain we climbed was the so-called Kröndlhorn with a height of 2,444 meters. From here we had an incredibly beautiful view over the Kitzbühel grass mountains and the main Alpine ridge with the mighty Großvenediger, which is considered the third largest mountain in Austria. We had a lot of fun on these two days and really enjoyed our winter sports activity. Even though it wasn't quite as sunny the following day, this didn't dampen our spirits. The conditions were once again excellent for plenty of powder fun.
I hope you enjoyed my little article about our ski touring adventure. I look forward to your feedback.
Best regards, Lukas.
