I tend to remember the bad boots the most too - in particular a pair of beautiful and expensive Kamik hiking boots. They felt great, UNTIL the material on the bottom wore away in a certain spot, halfway through their first hike. It turned out that underneath was something hard and sharp. Maybe part of a nail, I don't know. They went back immediately...
I just like the boot pouch as when I wear jeans or other long pants it conceals the knife.
