A review of last year’s development and this year’s outlook. This post is divided in to two main sections:

2022 In Review
Last year, FreeBeings.io LLC was registered in the state of Vermont, USA. With this development, we created an umbrella organization through which we plan to release software products built on the Hive blockchain.
The FreeBeings.io LLC team grew from being just the two co-founders (@imwatsi and @ladymwatsi) to include a full-time frontend developer and a graphics designer.
@imwatsi is leading the blockchain and backend development, while handling the overall business strategy and associated decision-making.
@ladymwatsi is handling the day-to-day operations, managing the development flow and our marketing strategies.
Chance Desire IRADUKUNDA is our frontend developer, actively working on the various dApps we have planned.
Blessing Mwatsikesimbe is our graphics designer, who's responsible for our branding and marketing graphics.
As we mentioned in the past, we are working on a social media dApp, built on HAF. 2022 saw us finish the UI/UX designs and push both backend and frontend development to a "near-beta-release" ready state.
In 2022, we further developed HAF Plug & Play to support all Hive operations available on HAF, not just custom_json. With the software, developers can extract and process specific Hive operations by designing "plugs" and adding them to the codebase.
We also added/upgraded the following plugs:
- Delegations (
deleg) for handling vesting delegations operations - Podping (
podping) for handling the custom_json operations used by the Podping service
We created this new HAF-based service to make available market data for the Hive blockchain's internal decentralized exchange (HBD-HIVE internal market). It was designed according to Coingecko's API recommendations and it is currently live and production-ready.
This is a notification system we started working on to bring a unified, HAF-based way for dApp users to access and manage notifications about activities relevant to their Hive accounts. It is customizable for both end-users and node/server operators.
Node operators can choose which notifications to support and this information is also made available to frontends. End users will be able to choose which notifications they are interested in and also configure how they are delivered.
It currently supports the following notifications: HIVE/HBD transfers, votes, comments, vesting delegations and Splinterlands DEC transfers. More notification types are being developed.
Plans for 2023
Behind the scenes, we have been busy working on the FreeBeings DAO and associated software. If Hive is a DAO then FreeBeings DAO can be considered a sub-DAO where the shared goal or ideas are freedom-oriented projects and the members are end-users, developers, investors, enthusiasts and anyone with an interest or stake in the advancement of such projects.
As part of the FreeBeings DAO software suite, we are working on a dashboard which will serve as a central place from which DAO members can access various dApps and services to participate in the DAO.
The designs are finished and development is currently underway. We estimate to release this by the end of Q1 2023.
We believe that public discourse is the heart of a DAO and as such, the first product we are developing is a home for freedom-oriented projects and their stakeholders. We hope to see all Hive projects (even Hive Core) and their users/investors/followers join the platform to freely discuss and innovate.
The aim is to bring these different parties together, to talk about development. Project owners will be able to keep their users/investors/followers updated on their progress and discuss with stakeholders.
One feature of note is a Discord like public space, allocated to each project. We are also including polls as a feature.
We are currently finalizing the UI/UX designs and estimate a Q2 release.
A new social media dApp is coming to Hive! We've been working on this since last year and we are nearing a beta release on testnet. ETA is end of Q1 2023.
We do not wish to divulge much at the moment, however, we can say that it may be described as having microblogging features, among others.
The app will also serve to showcase the token protocol we are also working on. (more information is below)
We are designing and developing a layer 2 token protocol for monetizing attention, for use by dApps on Hive.
HAT is designed for social networking, so the tokens will be definable at creation, with an optional setting for automatic emission and distribution, similar to HIVE. Think of it as an attempt to bring what SMTs promised.
This is a big undertaking and we are taking great care with the core design and tokenomics, among other things. We expect a protracted public beta phase and public review.
More details will be shared on the public discourse platform we mentioned above to begin engagement with the Hive community.
All in all, 2022 was a good year and we're excited about this year's prospects.
