I am replaying the blockchain, that is sad, will have to wait a few days again... hahaha
But now I have another question, on my config file I have set my Hive username and active key, but when I open Hived here is what I see:
On my config file I tell explicitly my Hive username and the correct active key, but it always starts up and shows this message
STARTING HIVE NETWORK
------------------------------------------------------
initminer public key: STM8GC13uCZbP44HzMLV6zPZGwVQ8Nt4Kji8PapsPiNq1BK153XTX
chain id: 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
blockchain version: 1.25.0
------------------------------------------------------
Do you think that is ok?
Will my node be able to identify when a block is assigned to my (@igormuba) witness?
Config file has my account details, but still, when I open hived it shows that "initwitness"
That needs to be your private signing key, which you broadcast when you enable your witness (the private key corresponding to this one)
and not your active key. Then it should work?
Tried both. I decided to use restart from scratch, but with the docker image by @someguy123
I hope it syncs fast, I am low on the rank of witnesses but I really want to keep the score of "0 blocks missed" (I have never missed a block ever since Hive was still Steem and I was a witness back then), so hope his docker image just works kinda out of the box.
I had a very stressful on my full time job and a few freelances I have got, so I really do not want to get stressed with it... I was a bit angry at first because it was not working as expected, so I deleted and am using his docker image now.
Hope it syncs fast and I don't miss anything.
But hey! Thank you for all the information you shared with me here!
You can disable your witness in the meanwhile to avoid missing blocks, and then re-enable it once you're all caught up! :D
Hi igormuba, I read through the thread with interest. The technical side of Hive is interesting and not something I see many posts about. Thank you for writing out your experience on chain! How did you go in the end, did you get the issues sorted? It's tough juggling full-time work with this and all the other parts of living! I have voted for your witness. How did you start learning about how to run a witness node? Well best regards, take care... all that 👍
I have learned almost everything by reading @someguy123 posts
In the end I decided to sync normally, instead of downloading a blockchain.

Replays shouldn't take a few days unless your CPU is pretty poor. Try a snapshot in that case. I can usually replay in somewhere between 12-16 hours.
