It is a transaction signing software that stores keys and let's you use the metamask extension to operate with apps on hive. The idea is that it can make it easier for crypto users comfortable with metamask to join Hive. I don't think this is for old hive users. The peak Vault itself is the better software for old hive users... or even keychain
